Can you feel the heat? That's from Capcom's mobile gaming explosion!

At CAPTIVATE, Capcom was promoting a few of their mobile titles, including Dead Rising; Resident Evil: Genesis; Devil May Cry; Mega Man III; Who Wants to Be A Millionaire 2009; and Street Fighter II. Yes, Street Fighter II on a mobile phone. I picked it up and tried it out, and while it was as difficult to play as it sounds in theory, I was able to toss a few fireballs before losing miserably.

Did you know that Dead Rising and Resident Evil: Genesis have been available on mobile phones since earlier this year? Yeah, me neither. Now we do. You can find all of the information on these titles in the fact sheets which I've pasted after the jump. A lazy cop out? Totally. But I just wanted to make sure you guys get the most accurate info on Capcom's mobile explosion.

[Bonus: Microsoft Word trying to make corrections to the fact sheets FTW!]

Mobile gaming is such a lost cause. I'd rather play my DS or PSP. I don't know why companies are wasting their time on making mobile games, I don't know of any one who actively plays them. Usually, you download it, play it once, and never play it again.

Yeah, I did a review of Dead Rising on my cblog (short story, it was prety good), and Genesis was fucking awful. I actually hope that more companies put their products on phones, because it'll eventually raise awareness of the cell phone as a viable console, and better games will be put on them.

Woah Woah Woah

I must disagree

Ever play with an unlocked Iphone?

Every chance I get I'm playing Sonic and Knuckles or this other great App racing game called Raging Thunder.

This platform is awesome for gaming.... some dont like the touch screen buttons, but all that will be fixed and accellerate this mobile phone into a gamer's dream with the icontrolpad (www.icontrolpad.com)

I know the SDK games arent out yet...but if developers were pushing new titles on the iphone IDE BE ALL OVER IT!

@Sylvan Knoll: Yeah, actually, I have. I have a jailbroken iPod touch and I have played Raging Thunder. I have also seen the iControlpad. The iPod touch and iPhone is different. I'm actually a pretty prominent member of the iPod touch community. It has a much larger screen and is a lot more powerful than most mobile phones, so I think it would only be fair to count it in the same category as the PSP and DS rather than the cell phone category.

Yep. I've actualyl bought a coupe copies of street fighter for my phone, for novelty's sake. And also Mega Man II. Regular phones (read, not iPhones) just aren't setup for really tight controls. The processing power is decent enough, and N+, in theory, would be sweet on mobile phone platform.

But until phone manufacturers start making devices built for gaming (durable d-pads with out the middle "OK" button, software front ends to properly pass multiple and rapid key presses in an airtight, reliable way, etc), you're going to be relegated to a much more simplistic type of experience. Not to say it can't be done, because it has. But none of these console titles translate especially well to the mobile phone platforms.
