Captain Obvious: Expect Spore delays photo

Whether you fully realize it or not, Will Wright's Spore is a highly ambitious project that for most of us who have seen and heard it on several occasions, think it may never even see the light of day because it's so out there. You know we all want it and you know we'll all do whatever it takes to get our hands on it, but the sad thing is, even though it's been delayed (sort of, no official release date has ever been announced), we can now most certainly expect even more delays. From the AP via 1UP:

No one expects Will Wright and his crew at Electronic Arts to rush Spore -- the very nature of his epic simulator means delays are expected. The ambition behind Wright's creation seems recognized by EA, too, as they announced today they expected Spore may miss their fiscal 2008 calendar year, which ends in March 2008, reports the Associated Press.

I agree, I don't want this thing rushed, but damn, this is wait is killing me. How about you?

i try not to pay any attention, as to not geek myself up for it. anticipation won't make it come faster, when it does show up, i'll be pleasantly surprised. i'm taking the same stand for halo 3.

completely with you Summa. this game looks absolutely amazing, but considering the delays and the fact that they know its gonna sell, I am willing to out money on it being released Holiday 08. sucks, but I think its very likely

ditto..the wait is killing me but seems totally worth it. 2008 can't get here soon enough.

I could care less about this game. Honestly, I can't stand The Sims and the prospect of "discovering" a planet some 12 year-old made where the animals fart to reproduce isn't my idea of a good time. If I want to play God, I'll be a God of War thank you very much.

waits don't kill people--pat morita playing ninjas kills people.

anyway, spore isn't very high on my priority list, since (being the peasant that i am) i'm about four or five years behind in gaming as a whole.

When Spore comes out, it will be my new religion. Until then, I will wait patiently.

It's not hurting me, but one of my friends began weeping the moment I started a sentence with "bad news about Spore."

"the prospect of "discovering" a planet some 12 year-old made where the animals fart"

Oh man. I can't wait to make this planet. Don't worry though Zero, I'll be sure to name it after you when I do.

I know I'm gonna buy the game, I know I'm gonna like the game but I've never been excited for it. I think Mass Effect is blurring my perception of every other game in existence.

I think building a PC right now for this game is a poorly guided financial decision. Oh, and I'm pretty sure I'll survive the wait, but yeah it does look pretty dang cool.

The wait will go even faster once I get Brawl and Left4Dead, which hopefully are coming out sooner. Good part is I'll have time to think up even more lifeforms to create, but I know once I'm sitting there in front of the editor my mind will blank from happiness.

I'll probably buy it, but I'm not all that excited tbh. It seems cool, but I can see myself getting bored with it much like I did with The Sims.

There's enough other awesome stuff coming that the wait for Spore isn't all that bad, at least for me.
