Captain Obvious: Capcom considering another Wii port photo

It's been a rather boring news day, all things told, which is why we have no intention of making things interesting. Instead, enjoy a rather obvious piece of news: Capcom is considering porting more software to the Wii.

This stunning revelation came from a whiny Wii owner who accused Capcom of constantly giving Nintendo fans the shaft. Quite an amusing claim, in my opinion, given the fact that Capcom is perhaps the only third party to treat the Wii even halfway decently. This is what the jaded Wii owner said:

Capcom, I'm really pissed right now. I want to play these games, but you give us Wii owners the shaft. No RE5 Wii, possibly no Dead Rising 2, no Lost Planet, no Flock, no Age of Booty, No Street Fighter 4, no Devil May Cry, no Dark Void.

I'd personally call the above quote a piece of presumptuous, whiny, self-entitled horse's vomit, but Capcom's Christian Svensson actually listened to this plea and responded:

We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you've mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we'd like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs.

So, any Wii owners with unrealistic demands and no grasp of business sense can put your minds and hearts at ease. Capcom hasn't forgotten about you at all, though if you actually believed they had, you really are stupid. About as stupid as someone who wants Devil May Cry 4 but doesn't own a PC/PS3/360.

I agree with Jim. Capcom's probably been the best 3rd party on the wii so far

If he wants all those games, why did he buy a fucking Wii?

An RE5 side story would be awesome, RE4 controls on the Wii were the best. Don't care if it's the same RE4 engine.

What the hell's that guy's problem? Capcom's been awesome to the Wii. Resident Evil 4 (the best version), Umbrella Chronicles, Okami, Monster Hunter 3 (I haven't played any of them, but I've heard they're good), and a little number called Mega Man 9.

Hahahahaha RE5 on the Wii XD! Yeah riiiiight, why not Crysis while we're at it? Shit Crytek should capitalize on those 30 millions Wiis worldwide! Gogo low-res graphics and useless waggle controls!

I think RE5 will come to the Wii, don't care much about the rest to be honest.

If any of those games will come to the Wii, I'd bet on Street Fighter 4 and Resident Evil 5.

And, lightthrower, don't underestimate the company that ported Resident Evil 2 to the N64 (with all the FMV still in tact!) and Resident Evil to the GBC (it didn't get released, but it was, I gather, pretty near completion and pretty thorough. Check youtube for videos. Very impressive for the GBC!)

Considering that Street Fighter 4 is aiming to simplify the controls and deliver a more accessible SFII like experience, it seems like it would be a good fit for Wii. If SFA3 can be successfully ported to the GBA, SF4 can be ported to the Wii.

That said, a large part of my reason for buying a PS3 is Street Fighter 4.

Video comparison of the alpha GBC port of Resident Evil and the DS port of Resident Evil. Considering the HUGE power differential.. I'm still impressed. There are other interesting videos too. It wasn't a different game based on RE1. It was a direct port. For the GBC. Crazy.

Just to keep in mind,
GBC stats
CPU Speed: 8 mhz
RAM: 32 KB system / 16 KB video

DS stats
CPU Speed: Dualcore, 1 at 67 mhz and one at 33 mhz
Ram: 4 MB

Devil May Cry 4 would work with Classic Controller support. But I don't really care since I could go play it on my 360 when ever I want.

What you guys need to know is that for example RE5 is built with engine X (360/PS3). Engine X is not compatible with engine Y (Wii). They need to remake a lot of stuff to get a RE5 Wii with engine Y. That's why most of the time when a big game comes out, the publishers will ask other devs to handle the ports (PS2/PSP/DS/Wii).

For example, we did the PSP version of Spider Man Friend or Foe here in Montreal while the "real version" was being made in Vancouver. The main developper can't spare that many people to make all the ports, neither can Capcom.

street fighter 4 is going to be on the wii.

the install base is huge, and that's capcom's biggest gun. lots of gamers that skipped a generation or 2 still have fond memories of street fighter. if the games on the VC (i wouldn't know) and has done good numbers, you can pretty much bank on it.

I would buy a RE sidestory with RE4 controls, if you wanna release RE5 I wouldn't mind, but that's for my PS3, so you get less of my moneys.

And yeah, capcom has been kind of cool with the wii support. We want more, but they've been good publishers. Here's a scooby cookie.

Oh, come on, the only games I can see on the Wii are Lost Planet, Street Fighter 4 and Devil May Cry 4. Look at Dead Rising, an ugly 360 game if I ever saw one, and that looks hideous on the Wii that will no doubt feature a lot of slow down on the Wii.

There's no technical way a Wii port of the 360 versions of Bionic Commando, Resident Evil 5, or Dead Rising 2 will happen.

It seems odd to me too that people expect every title to find itself on the Wii. It just wasn't built with these games in mind.

This is why I love Capcom, I only own a Wii... and while I don't necessarily long for any of those games listed, I'd probably buy them if they took the time to port them, however graphically gimped they may be.

Oh, quit with the "Developers are lazy" mantra. It's old, just lie the "Gameplay over Graphics" mantra. It's been proven not to be true and self-defeating. Blame Nintendo for not making the Wii powerful enough to handle 360/PS3 cross-platform games.

Also, lol DMC4 on Wii.

To add: I don't think Capcom would go through the trouble of severly downgrading the game in audio/visual quality, redesigning the entire control scheme, and everything else involved with making a game just so Devil May Cry can see crappy sales.

Love Capcom. I've played a ton of Capcom on my Wii and am pumped to see it keep coming. It's almost positive Svensson was talking about SF4 as one of the ports in question... can't wait!

Yeah, probably Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 if they'd like to wait and see how they do on their initial target systems before they consider a port.
Although, it's absolutely certain that they'll both do amazingly well.

Why do Wii owners just assume they can dumb down everything about a game to the point that it works on the Wii so easily?

If you're going to whine for things you can't have, at least whine for things you'd want. Crappy ports of games designed for far superior hardware shouldn't be what anyone wants. Which isn't to say that you couldn't do a good version of most of those games (Dead Rising being the possible exception) since they almost all had PS2 versions. But why would you want a port of RE5 when you could have an original Wii game that isn't going to suck like a down-port of that game would?

Where have either comments been disproven? Seriously, where?

But these comments are just typical of fanboys. When they can't dispute a notion, they pretend it's been disproven, without any proof it has been.
