It wasn't long ago that Capcom released their Resident Evil 4 port for the Wii, leaving PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners saying "Where's ours?" Now, the tables have turned, with Resident Evil 5 -- currently an exclusive for the PS3, 360, and soon PC -- shipping next week.
But according to Capcom's Matt Dahlgren, the publisher may have plans to spread to love sooner rather than later.
"[Resident Evil 5] was made for Xbox 360 and PS3," he told Joystiq, "That being said, Nintendo Wii fans will be happy very soon."
Rumors have flown around regarding Wii remakes of everything from Resident Evil 2 to Resident Evil: Code Veronica, but Capcom hasn't issued any official word on the future of the franchise on Nintendo's console. (Note: A direct port of Resident Evil Zero, almost identical to the original, was released for the Wii in Japan last year.) With RE5 launching next week, Capcom is free to shift their marketing and PR focus to something new. And with GDC and Capcom's own private media events on the horizon, "very soon" may in fact be "very soon."
What kind of Resident Evil game would you like to see on the Wii? A remake or an original title that takes advantage of the system's unique capabilities?

also, that picture needs moar pixelisation
yeah, or some other on-rail shit. :/
Then again, if they made the game according to the original RE:UC plan, which to make 3rd Person Shooter with the RE4 engine, then the game could be amazing. Four hour recaps or RE2, RE:VC, RE:Dead Aim, and RE:Degeneration all played like RE4 could be pretty awesome.
It's going to be a down-port of RE5 that plays like Dead Rising.
A new game would be good, but please, not an on-rails shooter, for the love of god. Also, I would like to see more survival horror and less action.
God I hope not. :(
You mean it'll play like RE4 since that's essentially what it would be. It would be RE5 Wii Edition, and while it may not be the prettiest, it would damn sure play the best. RE4 was the definitive version to own because of the ability to aim with the Wiimote.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind having a Resident Evil 2 remake with the gameplay/controls of Resident Evil 4.
So if they make a new game with RE4 controls, they had better include the option to use a GC controller, and I'd also prefer it if the game was something original.
So please, let's not ask for RE5 Wii.
Although, we still haven't seen much of Spyborgs but RE is something I'm always up for unless it's another on-rails FPS because between Overkill and Dead Space:Extraction, we really don't need another one.
Capcom, please don't disappoint us.
Also, for those who don't know (or those who actually care), in addition to the Japanese-only RE0 Wii port last year, they re-released the GameCube remake of RE1 on the Wii, also. There's your fun fact for the day.

What's this about RE5 for PC?
Just because the Wii isn't photo-realistic doesn't mean it isn't last-gen graphics tech. A RE2 remake using the Wii's power would look way better than both the original PS1 and GameCube versions.
Dead Rising Wii was also a bad idea
by which I mean no.
A phoenix write would be nice...
