Capcom to offer 3 new Okami slipcovers to replace the watermark-riddled ones photo

In order to make amends for the Okami Wii box art fiasco, Capcom is sending out replacement slipcovers to those who purchased the game. There are 3 covers to choose from, one being the box art you have right now (sans IGN watermark), while the other two are completely new.

To register with Capcom to recieve a new cover sent to your house, all you have to do is go here and enter your address. Oh, and if you aren't in the U.S. or Canada, don't bother signing up -- this offer doesn't apply.

I've got to be honest, I wasn't expecting Capcom to do much other than make sure that future copies of Okami didn't contain the watermark, not send out brand new art to those who already bought the game. Which one did you guys pick? I went with #2 myself.

[Thanks, Seth!]

Personally, if I had the water-mark cover, I would keep that shit for ages along with the new slip covers. Who knows what that will be worth in say, 20 years?

I agree, like the famous stamp my copy of Odin's Sphere with the cover printed upside down is probably worth thousands (it even opens left to right and has backwards text on the other side!)

Was this necessary? I mean I don't think anyoone was complaining about the watermark, but I guess it's a nice gesture.

So wait, do you have to show proof that you own the game?...

@TrailerParkJesus Not as far as I can tell. I just filled out the form and got an email saying that Capcom will send out the new art in teh next few weeks.

That original one might be worth something someday.

I like the original one. I dont even think you can notice to IGN logo unless you know its there and look for it. What I didnt like was the 9.5 rating they had on there. That IMO looked tacky as hell. I chose option #1

I think it will be funny if/when more of these get ordered than what they have sold.

Making a slip cover doesn't fix the mistake, just covers the mistake =)

Yes but it covers it beautifully.

Is it possible to get all three for a nominal fee?

Since when did Capcom USA rule so much?

I choose #1 as well, and I agree with Spitfire, I don't really care bout the IGN watermark, its that big red circle that ruins the cover... ugh

I got #1. Capcom just earned themselves major points for this one, although I love how nowhere on that page do they mention exactly why they're doing it.

I have the PS2 version so this might be nice as a replacement cover for that. #1 for me. Also, is this surprising? I've always thought that Capcom was a fairly good company in dealing with its consumers.

They STILL need to replace the Strategy Guides!

I saw a copy of the guide in Gamestop today and the IGN watermark was still there, but since it's a bigger cover, there's a bigger logo.

I facepalmed so hard.

Good move, Capcom. This wasn't really necessary, but we'll glady take you up on your offer since you care about this issue.Besides, who can resist free, beautiful Okami boxart ?

I choose the first one.Although, the original is my favorite.

Okami Wii rocks. It's everything I expected it to be and it's such a rewarding game. Don't let Okami turn out to be the next Zack & Wiki and No More Heroes.

This is wicked cool. I planned on picking it up, so maybe I'll be able to get a watermarked one. For now, I'm getting art 1.

It's devastatingly beautiful. Reminds me of Great Wave off of Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai.

What's the matter? IGN doesn't have any form of physical advertising and the first moment they do you want to stomp on it and get another cover to prevent them from getting marketing or attention? Failures. I should buy the game to support IGN, but I now use my Wii to write important messages to myself, like get drunk with some coed girls by the lake.

I went with #2...even though the mouse-over feature wasn't working on my laptop, so I couldn't tell what I was picking. Glad to see a company correcting problems like this, even if it is just cover art. I could have ignored the IGN logo, but the Play rating is annoying.

#2 for me. It was a tough pick, though, because both pieces of artwork were stunning. The game itself...a complete masterpiece. Just wish I could play it more before I lose the use of my right hand for 2 wks (gotta love carpal tunnel surgery!!)

I chose #2. I also think that this is totally necessary. Not because of the IGN watermark, but because of the big red circle on there that tells me what some publication I've never heard of thinks about a game I just bought.
