Capcom 'thinking about' Lost Planet 2 on PS3 photo

Capcom loves tugging at the heart strings of PS3 fanboys, and is obstinately refusing to provide a solid announcement concerning Lost Planet 2 on the Black Box o' Blu-ray. As with most publishers these days, no press release = no comment.

"We're still thinking about it and haven't announced a PS3 version, so we can't say more about it just yet," states game producer Jun Takeuchi.

With Dead Rising 2 confirmed for both Xbox 360 and PS3, and with third party games in general shying away from any form of exclusivity between the two systems, it's strange that Capcom appears to have yet another timed 360 exclusive in Lost Planet 2. Still, Takeuchi thinks it's a worthwhile pursuit.

"360 users and fans, whether in Japan or elsewhere, are very passionate about their games," he explains. "The attach rate in Japan is very high for 360, so I don’t think it’s a matter of numbers in relation to Japan, I think it’s about how passionate the people are."

I guess he lives there, so he'd know better than us. Still, Microsoft must be tempting him with cakes and signed photographs of the Scotch Tape Skeleton in order to secure this deal.

Releasing an exclusive 360 game may have been a good idea a few years ago, but now? PS3 sales are on the increase and and I'm pretty sure Lost Planet was released on the PS3 as well...they could potentially lose a lot of sales there.

As long as it's more interesting than that bore-fest called Lost Planet 1.

I'd be surprised if this didn't hit PS3 at some point...

The attach rate of the 360 is high in japan(goes and looks at the numbers) I think he's high because he's seeing something I'm not.

Anyway after their whole year of the multi- plat speech you would think they would keep their word but I guess exclusivity money talks.

I'm at odds end with capcom this gen, for every awesome thing they have done( SF4,RE5 ) they have done somthing equally as bad ( charging for vs mode in RE5,this story) so I'm interesterd in seeing how this pans out( but truth be told I don't really care about lost planet).

As a result of this article, I did a YouTube search of "Scotch Tape Skeleton," and my life is better for it.

Reason 1: Check out the VCR of the future!
Reason 2: The Rolling Stones have nothing on this guy.
Reason 3: Do I even need a reason?

Ya I'm not to found of Capcom, I would have passed on RE5 if it wasn't for the Co-Op there not to many Co-Op story modes any more. The VS. thing, hmm ya I'll probably end up getting it. Should they have charged for such a mode, no. To many extras are more like content that was cut. As we all know there is no short supply of space on the Bluray version either. So either we blame the Xboys or they need to start releasing stuff for free.

This will defiantly be on PS3 sooner or later. I didn't care for the original so I don't really care if this comes on the ps3 or not, but Im sure other people do.

Wasn't the ps3 port of the original kind of ass anyway?

After all that Tales of Vas crap, you think Japan will buy more "timed Exclusives" for the 360? I think not.

PS3 exclusives = good.
360 exclusives = not good.
Wii exclusives = meh.

I'm sure it will be released. There's probably some back door negotiations going on that having nothing to do with a regions "passion."

@Chronic Logic

What? PS3 exclusives are certainly the most overrated on the internet if that's what you're getting at.

I figure that publishers should, where possible, spread the love. Multiplatform is the way to go since it lets MORE people play a game.

"360 users and fans, whether in Japan or elsewhere, are very passionate about their games.

And gamers who play things other than the 360 don't care about their games?

@Robbo the hood

PS3 exclusives are definitely not overrated. I had the opportunity to pick up a 360 for less than the price of a Wii, and couldn't justify it, because there was nothing I wanted to play that wasn't on the PS3. The PS3 exclusives I've played, however, are awesome.

It's all preference, though.

Although I have Lost Planet 1 for 360, the PS3 version was just as good when I rented it. It's odd that this isn't coming out for the PS3 yet.

I'm not really sure why capcom has this huge boner for the 360. Their games sell well on both platforms so dont give me that high attach rate BS money is money and they'll make it regardless of which platform the game is on. With that said i can't say i really care the first lost planet was nothing special imo and capcom and square enix are on my shit list this gen. Primarily for producing crap (mostly square enix) and secondly for saying they support both consoles then pulling crap like timed or full out exclusives.
