If you hadn't heard, Capcom joined the PC Gaming Alliance. Very cool, I guess. But what, exactly, does the move mean for PC gamers? Could it mark the company's renewed interest in the platform? All signs are pointing towards "yes."
Capcom's VP of strategic planning Christian Svensson recently caught up with RPS to discuss all things PC, including lackluster ports like Resident Evil 4 that were outsourced, what role digital distribution will take in years to come, and the always pesky issue of piracy.
The interview is far too lengthy to recap here (all of it is worth reading, I might add), so I only have room to include my favorite quote: "Digital distribution on PC ties directly into our strategy. Capcom is trying to lead in digital distribution, and I would go as far as to say that in the console space we are already the leading software publisher."
It really was nice to see Capcom make the switch to internal development for its PC ports. Now, if only we could get everyone else to do the same, we'd be set.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
the lost planet port wasn't perfect, but it's still an excellent PC port compared to the terrible crap we usually get.
i look forward to playing SFIV on PC. the 360 version is diabolical as the crappy pad renders it practically unplayable for me. i cannot get hold of an arcade stick at all, so i'm looking forward to being able to play it on PC with the peripheral of my choice.
@narishma
you can bet on RE5 being released for the PC since it uses the MT framework engine, which has been an excellent performer on PC so far.
And if Capcom could get over their spat with Valve about Steam and start releasing their titles on there again, that would be great.
"last week i saw lost planet was at 4.99 on steam so I said let's try it it looks great ! and I realized after that that capcom didn't really care about pc gamers,"
Whoa whoa whoa, let's back up here. You played a Capcom game on PC, one that Capcom spent time and money to port to the PC themselves, even going so far as to enhance and optimize the graphics for the PC, put it on Steam as well as selling it through retail channels, market the game to PC gamers, agree to a massive discount on Steam in order to get even more people to play the game, etc etc...
And you somehow divined from this that Capcom does not care about PC gamers? What, did they do it out of some vestigial sense of duty, all the while silently cursing the moderate player base clearly forcing them to make an enhanced port of a million-selling and incredibly popular console game that people without one of the two consoles it appeared on could not otherwise enjoy? A game that has done indescribably well for them and probably financed several "niche" projects, some of which have also come out on the PC?
Really?
...
I'm sorry, you seem nice, but that whole way of thinking is just asinine. Of course they care! Of course they want to release a quality product! Whatever mistakes they made with the port, you absolutely cannot say that they don't care about PC gamers! They clearly do, vis-a-vis the port exists at all. I honestly can't even tell the freaking difference between 16:9 and 16:10 (and the majority of monitors out there are not 16:10,
I can guarantee you that)! I mean, I agree that that and the mouse sensitivity thing are noteworthy problems for hardcore players, but we are not talking about game-breaking things here! And that game was their very first internal port, so I imagine they've learned some lessons since then!
Look, I don't mean to be rude, but for Christ's sake, just because the game isn't giving you a BJ or buying you flowers doesn't mean that Capcom doesn't care about your opinion or your spending habits. Does a Lost Planet port exist? Then they clearly do!
*sigh*
Alright, rant over. Sorry, that attitude of entitlement just makes my skin crawl.
