When you want to buy a new game, look at this publisher/developer and compare it with your list. If the company who makes and publishes the game you want to buy is not on the list, go nuts and buy it new. If the company IS on the list, wait one week and buy the game used. You get to play the game you wanted to play, and all you had to do was wait an extra week, save $10, and not support anti-consumer practices.
Though speaking from experience as one who tried to avoid purchasing games with online passes, there are more than enough people that just don't care about the issue because "I'm buying the game new anyways, this doesn't affect me and will never ever in the history of the universe affect me" that the companies that have the power to cease these bullshit practices and even more bullshit hardcore fornication of our digital rights won't - Because they make money.
And that's what matters to them. Not us, the gamers. Not the people that give them the money. Just the money itself. They don't care where it comes from, and the only way to really show these companies that what they're doing is wrong is to stop supporting them entirely.
For what it's worth, I'm with you. No purchases of anything from a SOPA-supporting company. I'd add up how much that is... but frankly it would just make me say "What the hell, I spend how much on this each year?"
Seriously though, I joined the Video Game Voters Network because they fought for Freedom of Speech™ when it came to legislation against videogames and to now support SOPA... it just doesn't make sense.

Also, lol Crapcom doesn't have anything coming out in 2012 that interests me. Asura's Wrath and SFxT will both be rentals, at best.
Then again, I bet SNK would support SOPA too, considering piracy made them go bankrupt back in the day. In any case, the only thing that could make me consider going back to Capcom at this point would be a new Darkstalkers game - otherwise, I can live without them.
And we're better than that." - Adam Savage
This boycott shall be massive.
Capcom, Sony, and everyone else in the ESA are such bomberclaads.
"I can't support them in their desire to see this piece of legislation become law. But they aren't shrinking away from their association either. When the representative could have simply declined to offer any comment at all, they supported the group effort and that takes conviction."
Which is an excellent point. I can respect them for being honest about it at least, even if I can't, and don't, agree with their support. Operation Raccoon City was the only title I was seriously considering purchasing brand new anyway, so now it'll all just be pre-owned if at all.
Who purchased it new for you to get it used........conundrums and riddles.
Fei-Long: Us
Fei-Long's Nuts: Our nuts
There you go,I deciphered the picture for you....you're welcome!
But, I'm with you and every other gamer who wants to speak their mind on this. My backlog is ridiculous enough as it is. Fuck new games from ESA-supported companies. That means you too, Capcom.
Bonus for me. I can boycott these ESA-backers while at the same time supporting my local "mom & pop" gamestore and their outstanding used game selection.
If any of these ESA-lovers ever call a pest control guy for a bug problem, I hope he shows up with a bazooka.
But seriously, between Sony and, well, all the shit they've been pulling, Activision-Blizzard and their statements on D3, SquareEnix, and now this SOPA thing, I'm tempted to go outside. Anyone know if riding a bike is fun? Ness seemed to enjoy it.
then again this might be Capcom USA majority of the decision to support it.
i sometimes buy past capcom games(retailers like in amazon) but games like Megaman X Collection, Megaman Anniversary aren't being sold by them anymore and 3rd part retailers are selling them on their own.
so in a sense im not really supporting capcom at all so yeah Fuck em.
also they'll probably be a Super SF X Tekken, RE Operation RC Gold,
would love to support Asura's Wrath developers(cyberconnect2) and Dragon's Dogma(made by Hideaki Itsuno, Hiroyuki Kobayashi of DMC2-4 game)
and lol Conrad also doesn't mention DMC XD
that game really is forgotten for the most part.
Thinking about it, it would probably save me a lot of money really.
At least Bethesda and Steam (to my knowledge) don't support SOPA. Guess I'll give them money..And maybe Activision...maybe.
And for EA...? Argh, that's gunna be tough.
We know who the biggest problem children are right now; Sony, EA, Capcom and THQ. These are the companies that get just plain giddy at the thought of piecemealing content, stomping on consumer rights and choice.
Personally, for me, I don't need any of their games this year. That said, however, I take comfort in the knowledge that if SOPA does pass that it will have its ass kicked harder and faster by the Supreme Court than the California Law.
Also someone should start compiling a list of companies NOT on the ESA. I know I can still buy Valve, PC indies, Grasshopper, Atlus, Level 5, Codemasters, Activision, Vivendi, Lucas Arts, 2k Games, Bethesda, Rock Star and Obsidian. Anyone major I'm missing off that?
Personally sad to see Nvidia on the ESA considering I was going to be buying their 2012 offerings for my next build. Also while I'm primarily a PC gamer, I will miss a few Sony and Nintendo exclusives, but I can always borrow them from friends rather than pay those companies money, so no biggy.
Well there's still more to get and more coming, but I guess I'll just put a stop to that right now. I'm done with Capcom until they make some serious changes.
Glad they're not making that choice any more difficult. x)
Sony's been on my shit list for a long time, someone should write a book about Sony's history of dubious anti-consumer tactics and their fucknuttery in general.
I guess it's time to add Capcom to the list.
