Capcom says Disney classic titles not likely to come to VC photo

Look, you have NO IDEA how I feel about Capcom/Disney games. NO IDEA. There is nothing better I can say to explain to you how much I love them (or their origins) then this: Chad Concelmo and I frequently discuss how hyped we are for SingStar Disney. I know it's infinitely nerdy and uncool of us, and all I can say about that is, if you think that's bad, wait until you got get a load of this week's RetroForceGo!

Anyway, enough teasing about future podcast events. Capcom has commented on the reason that classic Disney titles such as Duck Tales and TaleSpin have not showed up on the Virtual Console. Capcom's Christian Svensson recently commented, Licensing issues abound. I think you’d be hard pressed to see them show up, but you never know.

Well, that's just ... lame. I mean, not that I can't play the original titles, because I own them, but it'd be nice to see more Virtual Console releases worth getting excited about. I'd download the HELL out of some Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers.

Rescue Rangers was the shit! I used to rent that game all the time.

Also, this sucks.

But it's somewhat expected at this point.

Ducktales is damn hardcore it hurts. I would love to play that game again.

Hell, a good deal of the Disney games were awesome. Let's hope these issues get worked out.

Rescue Rangers 2 would be nice, since it's incredibly hard to find and I never had a chance to play it. The rest are at least fairly easy to obtain. I regret not picking up DuckTales when Game Crazy was still down the road from me.

OMG...Rescue Rangers is one of my FAVORITE NES games! I would kill to have this game on the VC, and while you're at it, add online play! (Sadly this will never happen)

Duck Tales was awesome. Certainly one of the best licensed games of the early days, and maybe of all time.

In a weird way, the Virtual Console is almost a system seller for me when it comes to the Wii. I may pick one up one day so I can play the classics again on my TV, instead of on my PC, PSP, or the other dozen places I could play them without having to buy an actual NES/SNES/etc. But then again, probably not. I do remember that some of the most fun we had with my bro's Wii before he sold it and bought a 360 was having an Ice Hockey tourney with a bunch of friends. Good times!

Duck Tales and Rescue Rangers are easily 2 of the best NES games ever. It makes me sad, but I can't say I'm that surprised.

Speaking of Disney games, I would buy the fuck out of the Genesis version of Aladdin if it was ever rereleased on VC or XBLA.

That's totally dissappointing, I guess the only way to play them again would be by ROMs (cheap version) or finding (and buying... Or stealing) the NES/SNES cartridge (more expensive but pretty nostalgic)... Thank God I own most of the CAPCOM/Disney games!

i don't think there was a bad Capcom/Disney game on the NES (maybe even stretching to the SNES). glad they're getting some love (even if they're not coming out on VC).

Those 8bit Capcom/Disney games were amazing. My brother and I played Rescue Rangers back in the day, solid gold classic.

Its not a suprise to hear that the licenseing would be a nightmare, but it is a pity.

Bah, now the themesong is stuck in my head, look what you've done...

For anyone wanting to read an AWESOME write up on Ducktales, go find it in Mxyzptlk's blog.

On a non Disney note, If Goonies 2 for the NES ever came to the VC, I would totally buy a Wii that day.

Any love for the Goonies 2 out there?

My sister and I would rent Rescue Rangers and spend all afternoon picking each other up and throwing each other into pits/enemies/bosses. HOURS of entertainment!
Ducktales was the BOMB! I owned that bad boy. Countless rainy afternoons were spent playing that game start to finish. My only complaint was that 8-bit Gizmoduck didn't look very true to the cartoon.

What Orcist said. The Lion King and Aladdin are, in order, my two favorite non-Pixar Disney films of all time -- and the Genesis games based on them (done by Virgin Interactive) were awesome!

Man, I LOVED those games. Ducktales and Rescue Rangers were two of the best games ever released on the NES. It's a pity.

I DID love the Aladdin for Genesis as well but let me just say that the SNES version was no slouch either. It didn't have as good animation as the Genesis one but it's platforming was WAY better.

Chip n Dales Rescue Ranger , Ducktales, Talespin and Darkwing Motherfuckin Duck! Those are my childhood days of videogames. I'd get them again withou a second thought. Goddamn licensing restricting the goodtimes, the games were already made so what the fuck is the big deal, it's not like they'll get associated with the licensing that out now since it'll be established as to when they were made.

All fucking licenses should have clauses allowing games or anything else for that matter made by other companies in the past to be re-released in digital or physical form. The companies aren't ones missing out, consumers are.
