Look, you have NO IDEA how I feel about Capcom/Disney games. NO IDEA. There is nothing better I can say to explain to you how much I love them (or their origins) then this: Chad Concelmo and I frequently discuss how hyped we are for SingStar Disney. I know it's infinitely nerdy and uncool of us, and all I can say about that is, if you think that's bad, wait until you got get a load of this week's RetroForceGo!
Anyway, enough teasing about future podcast events. Capcom has commented on the reason that classic Disney titles such as Duck Tales and TaleSpin have not showed up on the Virtual Console. Capcom's Christian Svensson recently commented, “Licensing issues abound. I think you’d be hard pressed to see them show up, but you never know.”
Well, that's just ... lame. I mean, not that I can't play the original titles, because I own them, but it'd be nice to see more Virtual Console releases worth getting excited about. I'd download the HELL out of some Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, this sucks.
But it's somewhat expected at this point.
Hell, a good deal of the Disney games were awesome. Let's hope these issues get worked out.
In a weird way, the Virtual Console is almost a system seller for me when it comes to the Wii. I may pick one up one day so I can play the classics again on my TV, instead of on my PC, PSP, or the other dozen places I could play them without having to buy an actual NES/SNES/etc. But then again, probably not. I do remember that some of the most fun we had with my bro's Wii before he sold it and bought a 360 was having an Ice Hockey tourney with a bunch of friends. Good times!
....oh yes
Its not a suprise to hear that the licenseing would be a nightmare, but it is a pity.
Bah, now the themesong is stuck in my head, look what you've done...
On a non Disney note, If Goonies 2 for the NES ever came to the VC, I would totally buy a Wii that day.
Any love for the Goonies 2 out there?
Ducktales was the BOMB! I owned that bad boy. Countless rainy afternoons were spent playing that game start to finish. My only complaint was that 8-bit Gizmoduck didn't look very true to the cartoon.
Serisouly, those games were amazing!
I DID love the Aladdin for Genesis as well but let me just say that the SNES version was no slouch either. It didn't have as good animation as the Genesis one but it's platforming was WAY better.
modern Disney execs on the other hand....
All fucking licenses should have clauses allowing games or anything else for that matter made by other companies in the past to be re-released in digital or physical form. The companies aren't ones missing out, consumers are.
