Capcom: Resident Evil 5 Wii would be 'difficult' to make photo

We ran a Resident Evil 5 Wii rumor earlier, but now a release seems unlikely after 1UP's interview with game producer Jun Takeuchi.

Capcom has a Dead Rising port for the Wii on the horizon. Maybe they have a Resident Evil 5 one in the plans too, right? Not so fast. When asked if a online-removed Wii port was possible, Takeuchi's response did not sound very promising.

Hmm...honestly speaking, we're kind of pushing the 360 and PS3 to their limits right now, so it would probably be pretty difficult to create a Wii version of RE5.

Maybe a downgraded RE5 wouldn't be worth porting? Or is it that Capcom thinks there's more money to be made on PS3 and Xbox 360 versions? I don't think a Wii version of RE5 would be impossible. Our guess is that Capcom is probably more interested in creating something new for the Wii that is more targeted to its audience... and its controllers.

I think its the first option. I doubt it would be difficult to make 'a' RE 5 for the Wii, but they seem to have integrity, and wont just cash in. Wii needs seperate development for stuff like this.

It wouldn't be difficult, they just don't want to do it. I wouldn't want to take my masterpiece and dumb it down because one form of delivery is technically less superior than the others.

I'm fine with an original game if the quality is like a Resident Evil 4.5 kinda thing.

Maybe a remake of 2 with a new name? Code Veronica was a side story and the quality was pretty damn high for the time.

I wish they made another RE with the RE4 engine spruced up a bit. They should have never bothered with dead rising wii.

I was disappointed about this, way back in the day when we first heard about this. Then I got a 360 and a PS3, and now I couldn't care less, as long as the game is good.

I still want RE5 to get it's own Wii-remote/light gun style controller, or just get down-ported to the Wii. I can't go back to analog stick aiming now that I've played RE4 Wii edition.

If it has the same controls as RE4 Wii, then I don't care if it looks like an N64 game. I'd still buy it.

I too would rather Capcom create a new RE Gaiden side story for Wii. Reuse the RE4 engine once tweaked a bit (if not the new MH3 engine), get Barry Burton in as the main character and build the story around him, and what happened to him after RE1. Maybe even have Barry meet up with Billy Cohen or perhaps some of the Outbreak characters (the most broken game in the series, that still needs correcting)

There's so much they can cover with their characters and the viruses post Umbrella, I just wish they'd see the light and give us such a game.

Sounds like a red herring, once again hiding behind the inferior chipset of the Wii. Drop the resolution, ease up on some of the texture detail, etc. This is the kind of thing that's been happening in the PC world for decades -- making games of varying visual qualities for different CPU speeds and video cards.

Really, Capcom. Wii owners like myself bought the damned thing for the gameplay, not the graphics. Unlike some on Dtoid, we understand that graphics are only part of a game.

How Resident Zero wii editionn that did come to america. Port some old RE games that people did not get a catch to play.

They're gonna port it like ten times. It's the Capcom thing to do.

What they meant is that making a port of the same game would be difficult.

They'll do it some day for a future Wii that can handle it.

Honestly I think graphics are the only thing this game has going for it since this new guy took over the RE project and Shinji Mikami has nothing to do with it because he's working for platinum games
