Capcom moves key titles out of early 2010 photo

In a financial report released yesterday, Capcom revealed that it has "made the strategic decision to postpone the launch of titles that were scheduled for the 4th quarter of the current fiscal year." The reason? Capcom says its "rapid changes in the market conditions caused primarily by the 4th quarter introduction by competitors of a large number of new games."

In English, that means that games like Lost Planet 2 and Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii won't see their previously-hinted-at early 2010 releases. With Capcom's fiscal year ending in March of 2010, both titles will see release at some point after April 2010.

The other games in question are Super Street Fighter IV and Dead Rising 2, neither of which had previously been given a solid release date. Word has been floating around that has Super Street Fighter IV being released in April, the beginning of Capcom's 2011 fiscal year.

As for Dead Rising 2, no one should be surprised that we won't be seeing it until later in 2010 or even early in 2011. We had a chance to play a small area of the game as well as its multiplayer component, but it certainly didn't seen anywhere near a final product.

Keep in mind, the word "delay" is used for lack of a better word -- Capcom hasn't really confirmed release dates for any of the titles previously mentioned. When they do, we'll be sure to let you know.

Thats really depressing as Lost Planet 2 and Monster Hunter Tri were the two of the 4 Q1 games I had preordered.

actually, dead rising 2 had a solid release date, or at least month, it was due in august.

and im actually fine with this. lost planet 2 and monster hunter are titles I may buy, but in jan- feb with bioshock 2, avp, dantes inferno, mass effect all competing for my money? definitly not. so its a good move.

Well, it gives me more time to save up from the onslaught of early 2010 games, and it'll make them spread over a longer time. So I guess I don't mind too much.

Lost Planet 2 is depressing. But I guess I'll have my hands full with ME2 and all the other games coming out.

Really am looking forward to LP2 though.

If Super Street Fighter IV gets pushed to April I will <typical vague average gamer threat that means nothing because I am at the publisher's mercy>. I swear I will.

But yeah, with ME2, Splintercell, Army of Two2, BioShock2 and a buncha other shit that escapes my mind, my wallet needs some down-time to cool off, sheesh.

Oh and @lolipantsu(awesome name) you will still be able to buy them in Q1. Q1 of the fiscal calendar. :P

I know it's business but it still sucks that games have to be on a diiferent calendar than the one _I_ use. :(

Sigh. Gonna be a tough quarter. I usually only get to pick up one or two games per fq, now that I'm a daddy and all, and it loooks like that's gonna be bioshock and mass effect 2. I hope I still have that game save.

What? No Alan Wake in the header image? The game has been in development for about 6 years... If it sucks I am going to be pissed!
