A good rumor, like a zombie, doesn’t die easily. Capcom have yet to dismiss the potential of more Resident Evil remakes. Why the hell would they? The Resident Evil 1 remake for the GameCube was top-notch, worthy of the repurchase.
Recently, at WonderCon, Capcom representative Mike Webster responded to a fan question about the possibility of a Resident Evil 2 remake. “Stay tuned, we absolutely understand that these are classic games,” he said. “Some announcements that you will be very interested in [are on the way].”
Slippery? Absolutely. Webster could have been referring to any number of Capcom’s long list of classic titles. Strider comes immediately to mind, but Final Fight doesn’t seem that far-fetched either. (Doesn’t Zangief look cute with his Haggar uniform?) Of course, he could have been actually referring to a RE: 2 remake, which I believe, should make everyone very excited.

I hope they give it the EXACT same treatment as the RE1 remake.
Same environment with some added treats, mixing around puzzles, and playing off past jump scares (I.E. the dog windows from RE1 simply cracking in the remake)
I thought this remake was a shit idea until I read your comment. PLZ RE4 STYLE!
"Release the RE1 Gamecube remake in HD. It looks awful on HDTV's in 480i." - Orionsaint
It doesn't loot THAT bad...Sure, its got some jaggies, but some of the scenes in the game are Jaw-dropingly photo realistic, even by today's standards.
"So long as it uses the over the shoulder control scheme that'd be cool. Otherwise, why not just play the Gamecube one>" - Krow
Because the Gamecube version looks like a PS1 game (It's just a straight port). Also, now that I'm playing through the remake of RE1 again, I'm starting to notice how big of a role the camera and controls play in the suspense and scare factor. Jim wrote an article about it once.
After beating and loving RE4, and playing the RE5 demo, i realized i loved RE4 and am looking forward to RE5 for all different reasons than why i loved RE1. I loved RE4 because It was a really fun action game with a Resident Evil twist. But if they changed RE2 to control and have the same feel as RE4/5...I would be extremely disappointed...
How scary would a zombie be if you saw it coming for you the second you entered a room...not very. Now ask yourself how scary a zombie would be if you could only hear its moans coming from off-screen and had no idea where in the room he was, because of the static camera...VERY FUCKING SCARY. I don't like how RE4 and 5 seem to rely on scare tactics to make you jump once every hour, whereas the older games built up a whole situation of fear.
Part of the charm of RE0-3 Was the hand-drawn, pre-rendered backgrounds...ESPECIALLY in RE0 and RE1 RE-make, the backgrounds are amazing!
P.S. I want an edit button :[
Shit meng, that's why you gotta do a total overhaul. It's doable. Also, just because there are new controls doesn't mean everything will change. For example, I'd like to see it maintain the low ammo count of the original.
How about an over the shoulder combat system with an original camera for walking and exploring?
Whatever. i love RE2 and RE4. All I want to see is an epilogue chapter with Leon training or fighting WITH Krauser, a resolution to Sherry Birkin's dangling plot points, and some sweet Mr. X action. Sounds great.
OMG TEH WAGGLE WILL RUIN US ALL
I want a remake that wows me graphically. More then it needs to waggle me to death~. The remake of part 1 on the gamecube looked great I admit but with current technology the level of anxiety can be increases with the graphics.
RE4 Wii sucked compared to the GC/PS2 version in my opinion, it was too easy. So Kyo was pretty spot on.
Release it on the PS3/360 with sick ass 1080i graphics, with the RE4 aiming system/camera, and like Dimly said: same environments just slightly tweaked. It would feel like an entirely new game.
I think the Wii controls added more to fun and incentive to do multiple playthrough, where it became a sort of run and gun game anyway. Also, you could play it with a Gamecube controller.
I read that and never played the game again.
So your opinion that it was easy (which I haven't really heard elsewhere) means that any attempt to make any RE2 remake on the Wii is out of the question? Sorry if I don't quite follow the logic...
I don't want it on the Wii because I don't have one, maybe I should have worded that differently for the fanboys.
I hope its multi-console, there, that better?
Though I do agree that RE4 Wii was very easy, the aiming was simple and you got a RIDICULOUS amount of money along with plenty of ammo, I made it to the castle, upgraded the weapons I wanted and still had like 70,000 pesetas left.
Rock'n'roll.
I demand moar!!!
RE2 is the best in the series imho
If Capcom does remake the the game, I would be greatly disappointed to see it switch to a run-and-gun third person shooter that was RE4. There's so much missing from that style of gameplay that it would no longer be the survival horror game it was.
overall im still reallllly excited for a remake if it happens, regardless of the control scheme
