Resident Evil fans have been clamouring for this for 10 years, what the fuck is "fan support" Capcom?

Either way, if this was done in the style of the first REmake, I'm all for it. However if they plan to turn RE2 into a mediocre 3rd person shooter like RE6, then don't bother.

I remember my cousin had Resident Evil 2 for the Playstation. We would play it all the time even though he didn't have a save card so we never got that far. One day my dad was real drunk after a bad day at the plant and saw us playing. He said the game was demonic and that it would rot our brains then he stomped on the Playstation over and over until it was just a bunch of pieces. My cousin stopped coming over after that.

That would be so amazing! Still my second favorite RE game after 4. I remember how my friend was blown away when I got it on my Nintendo 64, it just seemed cool to have a Resident Evil game on a Nintendo system.

If its an actual remake like the Gamecube version - that's fine.

If RE2 is remade and modernized to the crap that RE5 and 6 are, then don't bother.

Have we forgot about all the Capcom shenanigans? The on disc DLC, the death of mega man, all with no reguard to the fan outcry - now they are playing the "well if our fans want it, they can have it!" card. Thats kinda douchy I believe.

More importantly, what kind of remake would it be? A true remake similar to the gamecube one or made to play like RE6, if its the latter I'm not interested.

I would love to have it with the re6 mechanics. Just because they will use modern control movements and set ups doesnt mean it cant be scary. Oh and please no co op.

What if they remade it to an excellent 3rd person shooter with incredible atmosphere (Capcom can do that...or could at least) and two campaigns, each a different angle on the story AND mechanics. Claire uses different guns from Leon, Claire's campaign is more atmoshperic Leon's a little (A LITTLE) more action heavy, NO COOP (other than survivors mode), and maybe to shake things up a little, Leon's gimmick would be gun maintenance (fixing, modding, jurryrigging), Claire's would be survival (food, warmth, maybe taking care of survivors, i.e. Sherry).

What if Capcom made another RE4 but this time around tinted with RE2 nostalgia...sounds awesome to me.

Come on Capcom, you KNOW that fans want it! Over a decade of begging must be a clue. But this is a good sign, at least they finally acknowledged it as I'm definitely in favour of this. Like Silent Protagonist says, I do hope they maintain the classic horror style. I don't think I'd mind the over the shoulder view because I do love RE4, and we already have the original version for the static camera angles and tank controls.

Give it to Platinum games, and then yes i'd like a remake.

I'm curious how they intend to measure said clamor and groundswell. As many of the other comments have already stated, fans want plenty of other games from Capcom that already have insane amounts of 'clamor' and 'groundswell'. This sounds to me like they want to make the game anyway, but want to generate fan hype so they can say they are doing it for us.

Doesn't matter which direction they go if they do decide to remake it, it's a Resident Evil game, and Capcom knows they'll make money off it either way. I'd personally like to see it done like the REmake, but with the way Capcom has been lately, would assume there wouldn't be enough explosions and guns to appeal to a lot of the modern gamers who never got a chance to enjoy RE2 when it first came out...

.. I do not have enough trust or will to afford to Capcom anymore. Biohazard2 was a fantastic title that managed to impress and even move the series foward. While it infact took place after Biohazard3, and in some places coincided with Biohazard3. It was an amazing game. However considering who and what Capcom is today; I cannot give that same trust to them as I did before. Biohazard5 and Biohazard6 are utter dog shit, and only ruin the series in more ways then a hodgepog train wreck of soggy dog shit (which is what those titles are).

I honestly wish for this title stay in the past with my fond memories. I remember waiting for them to announce a full remake back during the GameCube days and when they released the Biohazard remake. Instead all we (fans) got was a half assed port over to the GameCube of both Biohazard2 and Biohazard3. Direct port overs infact which to thid day are still over priced. Not that they are not good titles. I just remember the hassle Capcom gave us (fans) back when we urged for remakes back then.

All-in-all? Capcom is dead to me, and I'd much rather stay with my memories then ever touch another product of theirs again. This goes beyond Megaman, or Biohazard though now. They've done enough damage to warrant our hatred. Granted I garuntee there are enough gamers/players/consumers out there willing to defend them and every choice they have made even the worst choices, and they will continue to buy their products. I'm sure the will see my words and retaliate against me.

Just remember Capcom is the one who decided to turn their IP's into dog shit, and release the worlds most expensive limited edition title ever a fourteen hundred dollar (minus import costs) for the Biohazard6 CE. No jacket or game is worth that. So how many morons are willing to buy that?

If they do it right then I am totally on board. However, as many have already said, I don't want a great Survival Horror game turned into a mediocre Third Person Shooter. Do it right or don't do it at all. Honestly, I am not sure if I trust Capcom with such a task...

Still, I am excited by the possibility. They should release an uprezzed version of the GC REmake on PSN and XBLA. That would be an excellent means for gauging fan interest. I would sure as hell buy it.

@billy balls - Damn, if they gave the game to Platinum, I'd start saying good things about Capcom as a publisher again. How many good things depends on the rest of their practices, but having Kamiya in charge of remaking his own game is exciting. REmake 2 needs to happen.

If it was remake like REmake was, I'd play it. I actually prefer basic RE1 to REmake, but it was enjoyable enough anyway. Giving RE2 the same treatment would be fine with me. I did get a bit of a thrill out of seeing RE2 and 3 locations and characters updated to current-gen graphics in ORC and the Chronicles games, other than Leon (got changed to RE4 super-cop) and Carlos (became white and chubby, for no apparent reason).
If it was RE2 remade to mirror RE4/5/Revelations/6 though, no thanks. I won't get upset if it happened - if other people want to play a game like that, that's their call - but I certainly wouldn't have any interest in buying such a thing.

I should point that Capcom's done this shit before, Ono's been saying that they might make Darkstalkers 4 if you buy SF4, this started with SF4 vanilla I might add.

If it was done in the same style of REmake and Capcom brought Shinji Mikami in on contract to direct, then it would have my support. If Capcom remodeled the game after 4,5,6 and added co-op, then they would have my ass suicide bombing HQ.

Cool, I'd like to play that. I was a neophyte to the franchise with the Gamecube remake of the first game, and even back then RE2 already looked too ugly for me to particularly want to play it. I don't tend to be a major graphics whore, but some of those early 3D games, like the PS1 RE games, are just really off-putting to me. Anyway, I'd love to see this remake happen. Whether it's done in full 3D or in the same hybrid style of the original games and the REmake, I'm totally down to play it.

I feel like an RE2 remake would be a really bad idea, but whatever. I'm not a fan of the genre and if fans really want it then who am I to say they're not allowed it? Plus Capcom really needs to do something to get back in the good books of gamers.
