Capcom launches ridiculously sexy Okami art site

Capcom launches ridiculously sexy Okami art site photo
     Okami

Say what you will about will about Clover Studios' Okami (and what else can you say other than "It's totally sweet"?), but there's no arguing that the game is simply gorgeous. The watercolor-style cel-shaded graphics were proof enough that you didn't need next generation power to wow gamers with stunning visuals.

With this in mind, Capcom has launched an Okami Art Web site, which is home to over 300 original Okami illustrations. This doesn't even take into account the site's ever-growing fan art section, and the handful of desktop wallpapers that are all screaming for me to "Right click ... Set as Desktop Background."

The site also acts a nice gateway drug that might lead people to buy Udon Entertainment's sweet Okami: Official Complete Works art book. It's also a slick reminder that Ready At Dawn's Wii port of Okami will hit North American shelves on April 15. Anyone looking forward to taking the game's white wolf goddess of the sun, Amaterasu for another -- or first, perpahs -- spin on Nintendo's console?

I own it on the PS2 from when it first came out. Call me a purist, but the Wii version doesn't excite me at all. Part of the fun on PS2 was learning how to paint. Waggle will just make it easier, not necessarily better.

As for the site... I always loved the art style of Okami, but I've decided if I were to ever get a videogame tattoo, which I'll never do, it would DEFINITELY be from this game. Wow. Those images are all gorgeous.

Despite originally planning to get it for Wii, I've been hearing some worrisome things from the preview builds and the places that have tried them out (they said the PS2 version was still better). I'll wait for the final word when the game comes out before I make my decision on PS2 or Wii version, though.

Now I wish Capcom would make Viewtiful Joe 3 to finish off the trilogy and let it rest in peace....

I didn't get to play the whole thing on PS2, so I'll definitely pick it up.

Always loved the art style in Okami. (plus I bought a copy of the game for a friend awhile back) I'm planning to buy one for myself. But not really sold on the Wii, I may be leaning towards the PS3.

Looking forward to this, if it ever releases in PAL. Maybe my freeloader will get more of a work out than uncensored NMH.

I'll be picking up the Wii version, provided the controls are spot-on.

I don't think wii will add anything significant into the game, I'll pass no matter how sexy is the site.

Early word is that the controls are finicky and require more precision than the PS2's version. An action as simple as slashing is mis registered by the Wii unless you make smooth straight line, which only required you to move an analog stick from left to right. I believe the quote from the 1UP Yours podcast was that: "If you played the PS2 version you'll think something got messed up in the control translation from PS2 -> Wii. And if you didn't play the PS2 game you'll just think its harder to play (not as intuitive)."

I had abandoned my PS2 long before Okami came out, so I'm excited to give this a shot.
