Capcom hyper hyping: More (and better) HD remakes on the way photo

In a recent chat with Videogamer.com, Capcom's Vice President of business development and strategic planning, (that's VPOBDASP for short), Christian Svensson (CS for short, presumably), said the company had plenty more where Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix came from, and would "potentially" be bringing more of its classic fighters into the salon for the old HD makeover. The DL from CS:

"Are we done doing HD Remixes? No we're not done. But the next ones that we do will be even better, based on what we learned."

And what better place to start than with Marvel VS Capcom 2? When posed with the question, Svensson had this to say:

"I won't say it doesn't need it. Marvel would be great to do. There's obviously a fan base for it. It's probably our most requested title. Unfortunately, I wish I had news to share on that front but I don't."

Not a concrete affirmation, but hopeful words nonetheless. When asked for comment, I had this to say:

"Of course you should! What are you, f*cking crazy?"

So Capcom is planning more HD remixes. Duh, right? We could probably have all counted on that one. What's interesting here is that Mr. Svensson was asked about an HD remake of Marvel VS Capcom 2 and didn't spit out his coffee with a vehement "No." What's also interesting is that I found an abbreviation for everything in this post except Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Fancy that!

What are you guys hoping the next lucky contestant in Capcom's back catalog will be?

[Via G4. Thanks, Ali!]

If they fix MvC2, that game will die so fast it's not even funny.

Unless they just make all the capcom characters not shit anymore and bump the lower million characters under MSP/Scrub/Rowtron up and keep the shenanigans still.

But I want to see more HDRemix's.

Honestly, I thought the graphics in SST2T HDR looked pretty awful. I actually laughed when I first booted up the game, the animation was that laughably bad.

It's no one's fault. The artists from Udon did a great job. The problem is, there are certain animation techniques you can use with low res sprites that you can't use with drawings. If you try to, you're characters will come out looking like bad flash animations at best, spazzy, seizure prone invalids at worst.

Akuma, Zangief, and Ken/Ryu ended up in the later camp. Their standing animations make them look like they're in the middle of getting scanned my Michael Ironsides.

I like MVC2 but I don't want to play it anymore if that makes any sense. A new game would be nice but I don't really care for it.

I wonder what HD Darkstalkers would look like? That always had some nice art.

Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike HD Remix + Cammy as a playable character.
I'd abso-fucking-lutely buy that.
OR They could add Makoto to the SF4 roster, but that's not the question here.

Sorry Topher!

What I meant to say was "SSFT2 HDR was a great first step, and if Capcom can work out a few of the kinks in the the process of animating their HD sprites, I'm sure a new game made in that style would look fantastic.

That said, I want Final Fight HD Remix more than anything else. That, or Strider HD."

Ok, enough comment retracting. I'm heading back to Wal Mart to dip my balls in the cherry coke.

All they did for HD:R was redraw the sprites, the number of frames of animation was kept the same, that's why the animation was 'awful'. If they changed the number of frames the game would be completely different.

Here's hoping they do CVS2 HD Remix

As much as I am against the practice of companies raping their fans by rereleasing version after version of their classics with remakes, certain titles are worth repurchasing if only for some graphical updates and extra functionality (like online multiplayer or co-op or leaderboards).

Rez, MvC2, and the original Perfect Dark are the only titles I would be willing to buy. One down, one on the way (seemingly), now Rare... let's chat.

Wow. Just take a look at Popcap. They released Bejewelled and Zuma on PSN, without any rework on graphics, aside from a few logos. Even menu's were left untouched. Now you don't need HD to enjoy Zuma, but they could at least show some respect to their customers by redoing the graphics. They are selling the god damn games at 9.99, which costs more than calling all cars, and calling all cars were built from scratch. But people are still buying the popcap shit. Sony should NOT have let those un-retouched games sell more than 2.99, take a look at the shitty Ski game.

I kid, I kid.

you know, MvC2 has never even been released in Europe besides arcades (I'm fortunate enough to live 30 minutes from an MvC2 arcade machine, though.). I think it's about effing time that we get the game, and what better way to do that than with HD graphics, online play all for the price of 1200 MS Points? no way, that's how. cept if it was 800.
