In a recent interview with VG247, Capcom's Christian Svensson says the company is currently at work on some PC-lead games. Quite the opposite of their usual way of doing things, this means that Capcom has a couple of games being developed for PC, with consoles ending up as the ones getting the ports.
He says "the pedigree of the team and the primary focus of the design is around the PC, and the largest forecast is on PC for at least one of these projects."
It's nice to know they're at least doing it right, utilizing developers who really know their stuff when it comes to the platfom they're working on. If you're a console/arcade gamer like me, this is still no reason to get bent out of shape. Svensson is sure to note "That doesn't mean that that content isn't also going to show up on console, because it will."
That's good. Let's not go too crazy. But what's this "largest focus" talk? Do we have a Capcom MMO on the way? Svensson isn't letting that cat out of the bag just yet, of course, but he says he and his team are very excited for whatever it is, and I'm interested to find out what they're up to myself.
World of KenCraft?
[And then I tried to post spam links, which was naughty, and I should know better! Thanks for fixing that, Topher, you are so handsome and wise!]
I don't think they said ANYTHING like that when they started making DMC4 or RE5 did they?
Regardless, Im excited, Capcom have been doing great PC games lately. Nothing like SFIV at 1080p, 16xAA, and 60+ Frames Per Second.

*head explodes*
Well Metroid made a great transition from 2d to FPS so I'd like to see what capcom can do.
I don't think of capcom as a PC developer so it should be interesting to see what they can pull off.
Touché.
I think they should experiment on a cel-shaded level to see how that works. Maybe somewhere along the lines of Team Fortress 2, but more Megaman-ish.
I still smile when I see those beta Ocarina screenshots. There's a part of me that just loves to sit and watch what games could've been though in-development screens.
shouldve been done since Day 1. There a ton of possibilities with that franchise, especially sincenits so popular in Japan.
a Maverick Hunter MMO.
alternatively, Robot Master Hunter (but it doesn't have quite the same ring to it.)
I'll be awaiting Blizzard's surrender anytime now.
Also I've been really digging Capcom's PC policy lately. They're still a Japanese, console-focused company, but they know where there's money to be had and aren't playing any favorites. Platform specific fanboys must loathe them.
All the MT framework games are ports to consoles, basically.
When they started supporting PC again, for the last two years, they saw a positive reaction. Now we see a positive reaction on our positive reaction
So why anyone should be surprised?:)
