Fans of Darkstalkers and Capcom vs. SNK have had to patiently stand idle while Street Fighter, Marvel and even Tekken are getting a turn at the Capcom fighting wheel. Unfortunately, they're going to be waiting in line for a very long time, because neither series is getting a new game soon.
"Right now we're focused on Street Fighter X Tekken, SSFIV: 3D Edition, Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and maybe something else somewhere," says US VP Christian Svensson. "That's more than enough fighting products for an audience to digest in the near term without overly cannibalizing each other.
"We also only have so many development resources. Not just any team can make a credible fighting game and we have loads of requests for lots of titles that we don't have the resources to make. While we listen very closely to fan requests, any product decisions have to overlay positively against strategic objectives and be prioritised against product viability. It takes years to make a game (that's multiple years), even an HD Remix, so while we may get to them some day, that day is still likely to be a ways off."
Looks like my dream of Capcom vs. Gospel Bill will never happen now.

Oh well. I can wait.
I can wait a very long time.
Capcom Vs SNK is perhaps my favourite Capcom crossover despite my disappointment with CvS2. Me and my mate have been waiting for a sequel for yeeeeeaaaaarrrrs.
Oh well, it's not like I can afford all these games at the moment. So for now, Capcom - promise me you'll make a sequel.
PROMISE ME!
To me Capcom is milking Street Fighter a bit too much Darkstalkers would be a nice change of pace. They have so many IP's Star Gladiator, Warzard, Rival Schools and of course Darkstalkers. Yet we have to deal with another sub par Street Fighter or a port that should have been out years ago.
Fuck you.

Haha...cash, I guess. Seems like a really odd pairing, otherwise.
It's not a vampire,it's a succubus(but i know that you don't really care)
By generic you mean Street Fighter right because if you played Darkstalkers 2 and Vampire Savior. Those 2 games are more technical then any 2D fighting game ever made. Warzard had a level up system and the characters we're very unique, Star Gladiator / Plasma Sword were basically a better Soul Calibur w/ super moves of a standard fighting game. Rival Schools is basically a better version of Street Fighter. With still the one of the best tag systems ever made for the 2D fighter because it was a balanced one and not abusive.
That reminded me of Capcom vs SNK 2 wich I missed and gotta get the GameCube version. And a GameCube controller. But first gotta get the baby.

That said, I'd love to see a new Darkstalkers game.
Seriously, I'd trade TxSF, SF4 and all that other generic rubish for even a remake of DS any damn day.
Of course they can't. She refused with Morrigan already.
Whatever. They're the same person again.
If you don't want to make Darkstalkers 4 and CvS3, at least allow the fans to do it.
I'm certainly looking forward to a Darkstalkers 4.
They could still easily make her a character - especially in a crossover game, where (canon) story means absolutely nothing.
Lilith does still come out for certain moves, as a separate entity - so, while she resides in Morrigan, she can still separate. Heck, Lilith separating from Morrigan was one of the plot points from Namco X Capcom (It apparently happened because the presence of the Soul Edge unbind-ed them.)
Personally, I'd like to see Morrigan able to turn into Lilith in the middle of battle, a la Ryu's Ken/Dan/Akuma forms from MvC1. Just like Ryu, Morrigan is way too boring for the MvC games, being mostly a shotoscrub - a 'gimmick' like this would go a long ways in making her fun to play as.
Yeah a new DS would be very appreciated indeed. Still gutted I missed out on an ebay auction of Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service on the Dreamcast. It came out again on the PS2 in Japan, under a different name but I didn't realise they were the same thing essentially, and stupidly didn't buy it. So I don't own anything apart from Chaos Tower.
Though I have deep interest in the Darkstalkers games due to their unique and inventive depictions of fabled characters, I don't agree with your statement regarding TvSF. Don't get me wrong, I don't think TvSF is better, but I still think it's a worthy addition to the genre, as I appreciate getting a taste of Japanese Cartoon Heroes of the past. But yeah, Darkstalkers definitely should be brought back, as well as Rival Schools. But that's a totally different, and impossible dream...
@Corduroy Turtle - I agree with you mate about all the characters in Darkstalkers that are being wasted. I first realised their awesomeness in the NeoGeo Pocket Game, SNK vs. Capcom - Card Fighters Clash. What a game that was! Shame no one else I knew in the UK had 1, and that the 1 mate who did, despite being a massive fan of all things Capcom & SNK, was not impressed with cards battling it out. Sheesh, what a lack of imagination - and he wants to be a director too...!
