Have you played Canabalt yet? It's a free and fun auto-run platformer, and it's surely worth a second or two of your time, if not just to see how compelling one-button gaming can be.
Just like Meat Boy was the foundation of what has gone on to be one of the year's most beloved games, I think that Canabalt has similar potential to evolve into something really show stopping. Hopefully this new Winnitron 1000 exclusive 2-player version of the game is the start of that evolution.
Sadly, most people will never be able to play this upgraded version of the game, as the Winnitron 1000 is a one-of-a-kind arcade cabinet located in Winnipeg. Seems like kind of a waste to make a new version of a game that next to no-one will ever get to play, but I guess that's the kind of thing that artists often do. Maybe they'll come to their senses and give Canabalt: 2 Player an official release sometime down the line.
Canabalt: 2 Player! Winnitron exclusive [Infinite Ammo]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
when my phone rings, or i get a text message. when people ring my doorbell. i want it to be on repeat on my ipod. In the morning my alarm that wakes me up for work needs to say it. the toast needs to pop out the machine to a little "winnitron 1000". I want my microwave to do it when my chicken has defrosted. it should be the noise that my PS3 makes when i switch it on, or the engine of my cars starts..
i'm gonna play the video again.
(Wait a minute...that's not really sad news at all...)
Not the saddest news, no.
Man that is remote though - Manitoba's not really known as the life of the party here in Canada.
A lot of time art shows like to have an exclusive when it comes to digital art. But when the Winnipeg exhibition is over Im sure they'd let Canabalt: 2 Player tour. I don't see a reason why down the road it cant come to an art show near you.
You guys missed out. Winnipeg just hosted a chiptune dance party/ pop up arcade that even the guys from GamerCamp in Toronto were floored by. This city has more amazing talent in the arts/ music/ culture than any other city in this country (at least per capita ;) )
