Fresh on the heels of Sony's surprise announcement that Warhawk would be offered with a limited-time discount ($29 until 4/15), comes the official release date for the game's latest expansion pack, Operation: Broken Mirror

According to Sony's blog, the pack will be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store on April 17th, and will set you back $7.99. You can watch the video and see for yourself, but here's what parting with that hard-earned cash entitles you to:

  • -10 bonus layouts for battlefields from the original game, so you can play with APCs.
  • -10 layouts on Vaporfield Glacier, a new Winter battlefield.
  • -2 new Armored Personnel Carriers (Chernovan and Eucadian styles).

The expansion definitely looks inviting, but I guess we're still feeling spoiled by Epic's freebie map pack announced on yesterday. Free is free, and that's a hard act to follow. Do you guys plan on buying this?

[Thanks, Justin!]

A big giant maybe for me. I like playing Warhawk with other Dtoiders, but the last expansion that was released is hardly used during WNW or FNF.

That's OK, Cheeburga. We've always wanted you to play Warhawk with us.

Since I only play the game with fellow Dtoiders, my purchase will depend on whether or not the rest of the group splurges on this.

Don’t bother, Gameboi. A bunch of us bought the Omega Dawn expansion pack, but we never use the new map because all the people who don’t have it get kicked off the server when it comes up in the rotation. And as far as we’re concerned, it’s always about the turnout. Playing on Omega Dawn with 5 people — when you were playing on Destroyed Capitol a minute ago with 10 people — is just no fun.

Thanks for the warning, Samit. That would indeed suck.

Probably not unless it seems to be used a lot. Although the winter maps sounds cool.

I don't participate in FNF or WNW... for... some reason I haven't figured out yet, but I'm definitely going to pick up Broken Mirror. It's supporting some people that made a game I thoroughly enjoy and I want the new stuff.

@Trev

The easiest way is to add us to your friend's list. Once you see us online, joining up is cake (as long as the rooms aren't full).

What he said. Haven't gone with the expansion pack, mostly since it works on my buddy's acct he uses on my ps3 (and activated it) but not with mine. Curse your account-specific addons!

Samit is right. As soon as we shifted to Omega Dawn people disappeared and the night ended pretty much. Not that I don't like the new APC and map.

I totally wanted a mountainous snow level from the beginning. It's pretty much the only environment type they didn't have besides industrial.

I wonder if your feet will make snow prints?

Darn, just make it free already, and keep warhawk at the same price if you want those extra dollars.

I almost never play warhawk. Not that it isn't fun, it's just that only one of my friends has it, and I can't play wnw or fnf most of the time.

Huh... Forget about the Expansion... That sale price is pretty tempting.

Only problem is... I don't have a headset if I download it.

Patch + dlc = awesomeness. Still love Warhawk and new content equals more cool stuff for me. Plus its only $8, I think I can spare $8.

I'll buy it, just because I love me some Warhawk.

But they really should have just combined this with the Omega Dawn expansion and had a price point of $9.99. I feel $7.99 is too much for a just a map + vehicle. Two maps and two vehicles though would've been sexy.
