Call of Duty: World at War going mobile, sounds very exciting photo

While Treyarch will be working on creating the best World War II gaming experience ever for next-gen consoles, PC, and Wii this fall, Glu Mobile has announced that they'll be bringing Call of Duty: World at War to mobile phones. Worried that it'll just be a quick cash in mobile port? This portion of the press release should ease your mind:

The critically-acclaimed, blockbuster Call of Duty series is known for its cinematic intensity and epic battlefield moments. The Glu mobile version of Call of Duty: World at War, which Glu will develop and publish, will be scheduled for deployment to consumers on major wireless carriers around the world.

So what they're trying to say is Call of Duty is good, and they're bringing it to mobile phones because they can. That doesn't ease my mind at all. Doesn't anyone have anything good to say about the game itself?

“Glu has solid studio capabilities and carrier relationships around the world, and is well-positioned to continue to bring the Call of Duty experience to mobile consumers,” said Dave Anderson, senior director, business development, Activision Publishing, Inc.
Yeah, they've really got nothing, do they?

Glu and Activision Announce Extended Worldwide Partnership to Bring Call of Duty®: World at War to Mobile Phones

San Mateo, Calif. – June 25, 2007 – Glu Mobile Inc. (Nasdaq: GLUU), a leading global publisher of mobile games, today announced an agreement with Activision, Inc. that will extend the companies’ exclusive, worldwide partnership to include Call of Duty®: World at War for mobile phones.

“We’re excited to extend our partnership with Activision and bring Call of Duty: World at War to mobile gamers worldwide,” said Jill Braff, senior vice president of global publishing, Glu. “The Call of Duty franchise has been a great addition to Glu’s portfolio of award-winning games, and we look forward to the continued success it will bring to the action category.”

Can we stop with the whole WW2 thing already? I mean hell if we were there for the time it takes to play through all the WWII games we'd still be fighting it.

I was pretty much in awe of the COD4 on DS, it controls really well, not really sure what they can accomplish on a phone though...

Mobile phone games are a waste of everyone's time and money. This is no different.

I wish verizon would give free trials to games I actually want a free trial for. I'd really like to see how bad the phone versions of Guitar Hero and CoD really are.
