Agh, oh well, there's some cool stuff along with that, though I'm not going to get MW3, so it doesn't really matter much to me.
I don't play Call of Duty because I don't have the mappacks. I don't have the mappacks because I forget to buy them and they come out too far apart to keep me interested. New maps every month and paying up front for everything would solve both problems.
I'll think about it, Activision. I'll see how much I like MW3 when it drops before I decide.
If it's the former of those two, if someone already knows they are going to buy all the map packs (my girlfriend for instance) Premium would be worth it just for the early access and savings on the map packs.
If it's the latter however, Activision can fuck right off.
case in point: $15 dollar map packs..."rolls eyes."
Seriously though, when Dale did the same thing for the Persona bombshell this week, I didn't mind it so much. So perhaps I'm being hypocritical here. It still didn't need 3 extra posts, but hey, I care about 3 different Persona game announcements way more than I do a single mode in Call of Duty.
Oh, man. That's rich.
Let me explain what you should be doing, Activision. You should be selling CoD multiplayer with all versions of Elite. By which I mean it should be free-to-play, with a premium subscription (which should be around $20-30) that adds all the extra content you've promised here, allows for cross-platform play, and lets people have the SP campaigns free with a "subscription". You should then allow the free players to purchase new content a la carte rather than through a subscription, charging as much as each piece of content is worth each time and digitally delivering it all through your servers. In other words, if you want to be a subscription service, you should go full-on magazine-style with it, instead of pulling this half-measure crap. I swear to God, you are keeping so many people out by doing it this way. $60 for a new SP campaign and incremental improvements every year, plus $50 a year for Elite, all to "save" $10? I think people will be more likely to save $110 than they will be to do this shit. You are doing it wrong.
THANK YOU COD FOLKS FOR BUYING EVERY SINGLE MAP PACK OUT THERE AND MAKING SUCH THINGS AS THESE MORE FREQUENT!
GOD BLESS CAPITALISM! rofl
I'm also waiting with baited breath for the first hand full of companies to bait people in with these "Buy early and save teh moneys" then to totally fail on delivering acceptable content.
The more I see of Will Arnet and Jason Bateman, the less credit I'm willing to give them for being on Arrested Development. This is a terrible idea.
Also, some people deserve to have $50 squeezed out of them by an unscrupulous publisher.
Also, how much does the Hardened Edition cost ?
Pretty sure there's going to be a shit-ton of people getting the hardened edition, too, since it's only $100 for the game, a bunch of extras, AND the premium subscription stuff.
I mean, I'm certain that some other online games might implement some similar things for free, but I doubt you'd get everything this is offering for no cost anywhere else.
Thanks for the reassurance I feel a lot better now!
Still dont think im ready to jump into new COD, however the COD Elite sounds like a decent deal for a diehard COD fan
The hardened edition seems the only way to get half decent value.
PS - Take the "Bnet only for single player" folks from Blizzard with you.
It works for Rooster Teeth and Fails of the Weak. It's actually a pretty amusing show to watch, but then again, I have a feeling shows like that rely heavily on the right clips AND the right hosts.
And I thought Sterling was a CoD fanboy, sheesh...
Nobody cares if you like Ketchup or Brown sauce with your meal. Neither are mutually exclusive. Deny yourself one of either if you want, but don't label yourself a champion for it.
Nick Chester has posted "a bajillion bullshit articles about CoD in a single day" because the embargo just lifted. Call people out for their bullshit, fine, but don't sniff the air and check the soles of your shoes because you're convinced something is there when it isn't.
