Call of Duty Classic 'eventually' heading for XBLA, PSN photo

As we already know, Modern Warfare 2's Hardened and Prestige editions are going to include a redeemable code for a downloadable version of the original Call of Duty. Even though it seemed kind of implied, IGN has gone ahead and confirmed that yes, Call of Duty Classic will be hitting Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network.

The standalone release, according to Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, will be coming to both services "eventually." But, of course, those who pay top dollar for either of the two Modern Warfare 2 collector's editions will have first access to Call of Duty Classic.

Additionally, Bowling mentioned that the game would include "full multiplayer," something I had also assumed was the plan all along. The real question is, which of you are getting the regular edition? You know, the one with "Call of Duty" written on it.

I really don't want the regular edition... the case is horrible and it annoys me that Activision is having it's way and slapping Call of Duty on the front.

However the hardened edition is £65 whereas I can get the standard for £43!

Look at the artwork the website (shopto.net) has up for the game... so much better than the COD one! http://www.shopto.net/PS3/GAMES/PS3CA06-Call%20Of%20Duty:%20Modern%20Warfare%202.html

This is honestly why I'm getting the cheaper Collector's edition.

Uhhh...duh? Anyways, including the voucher for CoD only sweetened the deal when getting the special editons. I heard the goggles work up to 50ft!

I don't really get it. Who the hell is going to play the old COD when Modern Warfare 2 comes out?

Which version costs the least amount of money, and comes with the least amount of bullshit? That's the version I'm getting.

Honestly, the thing keeping me from getting the hardened edition is the case. I just don't want to have 60 other nice green cases, and 1 freaking metal one that doesn't fit and stuff. I really want to get COD classic, but I'll pass on the crappy case.

I'm tempted to get Hardened for the CoD voucher, but at $20 more it's a hard sell.

I might get this but I'm not getting the "Hardened" edition for it, when I can wait a couple of weeks and get it for 1200 MSP (unless Activision will be kind enough to charge it at 800 MSP).

I was actually thinking of buying the stupidly expensive Prestige edition, but it looks like us PC gamers are left in the cold on this, so I'll just be buying the regular edition on Steam.

Activision should sell hardend on PC and hand out steam codes for CoD, would be lovley to see some nubs to kill in the original CoD. UO for life! ^.^

Is United Offensive included? That is one of the better expansions ever made, in my opinion.

It's good console-only gamers are finally getting the original Call of Duty though.
