If you are still skeptical about Call of Duty 5: World at War, there's a chance that the above teaser trailer, as aired on GTTV, may warm your cockles to Treyarch's Modern Warfare follow-up. It has flamethrowers in it.

The full trailer after the jump promises a visceral and gruesome World War II game, and if they can capture the horrors of the Pacific Front, then maybe they will win the hearts of we who didn't want to go back to WWII.

Also, as a treat for the conspiracy theorists, there is no PlayStation 3 logo at the end of the trailer. Of course, that means nothing (since this trailer was on Xbox Live) but a few of you might want to pretend it's a sign that this is a 360 exclusive. I know some people in the gaming community get off on that kind of thing.

Lol, I love bad writing that tries so hard to be dark and emotional but just comes off as laughable. “Nothing could prepare us for the horror. So much horror, more horror than we ever thought of, horror from your nightmares, we had never seen so much horror before. Oh God the horror of war!”.

Oh, Wardrox. You're just looking to make some new friends, aren't ya'?

I kind of liked what I saw here. I'm hoping these developers make a good game this time. The last one was unfair to judge them on.

I see another WW2 game.

It does look very good though.

Are game designers so unoriginal that they have to keep retreading the same ground over and over again?.. Oh wait, scratch that question. It's too obvious. Heck, even in WW2, there are plenty of theatres of operation that have never been touched. The Winter War, the Africa campaign. Heck, the Brits and Anzacs in Burma/Singapore/Indonesia would be interesting. But no. We have Island Hopping. Again.

This game is going to kill a lot of the good will CoD 4 built up, as people are going to buy it expecting a good game. Roll on CoD 6.

The graphics look pretty but they always do now and how much of what we just saw, impressive though it is, was set pieces and cut scenes? Not a bad first look but I'll reserve my judgement until we see some actual gameplay.

i'm going to stay pessimistic about this, cause trailers ALWAYS make a game look about 100 times better than it actually is.

I enjoyed Pacific Assault and I enjoyed Treyarch's Call of Duty 3. It had a different feel from the IW games - longer, multipart missions, vehicles, quick-time events. They just felt so different from the IW games that I enjoyed COD3. I'll probably enjoy this.

Treyarch is underrated!!!`

if the player character really dies after getting tortured, blindfolded then exectuted next to the rest of his squad mates, COD4-esque, then they'll be going in the right direction. Maybe not totally original but ya know, id rather they copy the guys who are good at what they do.

Besides, how many good WW2 pacific theatre have we had. I can only recount enjoying Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault.

Anyone else?

I hope in future games that they emphasize the African and Asian theatres more.

PFFFT WW2 has such shitty guns and such, I'd mutch rather play a more modern warzone... its not like there's a shortage of those...

Is it really CoD5? Or call of duty: World at War

Cause I haven't seen them call it CoD5.

While I am very interested by a good game set in the Pacific Theater, this has the potential to be the worst-selling game ever in Japan.

I skipped Call of Duty 3 so I don't really know why it sucks, but really, there's no reason why a WW2 game needs to be bad or a rehash. This one looks like it's at least attempting to do something different with the time period (as far as video games goes anyways).

I am intrigued by the addition of flamethrowers and machetes, but will remain cautiously optimistic until someone gets some hand-on time. Also, the Japanese in the trailer sounds like it was spoken by a white guy.

Why does every freaking war game insist on trying to be deep and dark with the phrase "was is horrible"? It's getting annoying, guys.

I dunno what i hate most;
The fact that the WW2 plane that crashes stays in one bit when compared to say... the helicopter crash in COD4
or the Fact its back in WW2
And yeah its not that "Deep and Dark" if i can mow down hundreds by myself with no gore for only one side of the battle.
lemme play as a Japanese soldier shooting prisoners and ill call it dark, not the whole game of course just the intro.

I am going to say something heretical.

To be honest the last WWII game i played was COD3 (or was it 2) which was well over 2 years ago. I wouldn't mind returning to the 1940s again, especially if it is a new setting.

Course it looks good, its built on the CoD4 engine. It would take some hard work to make it look bad. Im going to reserve judgement until ive played this cause it may suck hard.

This is going to be CoD4 with WWII weapons.

Airstrike? Check.

UAV? You get a flare gun instead. Check.

You better believe they will have the weapon/perk leveling system, WWII style.

It will be CoD4: Part Deux

So yea... Yay new maps!

Also, Flamethrower
