It’s a rumor no more. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is coming to the Wii with a subtle, new name: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. We're sure the guys at Infinity Ward endorse this change.
Earlier this morning, Activision announced that the 2007 mega-successful shooter is being ported to Nintendo’s little white console. The title, as rumored, is in the hands of developer Treyarch and will ship alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 10th.
The official release makes no mention of any action elements and doesn’t come with a single still image of the title. At this point we can only take a stab -- and it’s a good, deep stab -- that this port will be similar to other Wii-specific Call of Duty titles Treyarch has created thus far.
So, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for the Wii. What’s your take?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'll be spending my money on things like Fragile, Muramasa, Little Kings Story, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom & Darkside Chronicles and not this tardy, cheap, whored out port of a game.
It would be cool if they toss some liberal "artstyle" into this game, though we're most likely to just get scaled down textures and models.
That, or they totally dumb it down so your bullet hits pretty much from anywhere.

haha, if Activision can not beat the graphics in the video above than they suck. No joke
-Red Steel came out in 2006
-WAW came out in 2008
-Red Steel was made with a gamecube dev kit
-I don't know what made WAW, maybe a N64 prototype engine
-Red Steel devs didn't even have the official remote yet
-WAW devs had it
Now do you see how pathetic WAW's graphics are, and that if anything, this game should murder Red Steel. It should...you all know it...
"The official release makes no mention of any action elements and doesn’t come with a single still image of the title."
Why should no one buy it if the graphics suck? Cus, read my other posts, like the 50 I have posted. and watch the video...
You have to take into account the online and the fact that Activision gives barrels full of cash to Infinity Ward but then gives fuck all to Treyarch because Activision doesn't care about Wiimakes. Also spamming your point over and over again won't make anyone start listening (Though an avatar probably will)
It does kind of suck that 3rd Party company's treat Wii owners with less respect than they do 360/PS3 owners. If the rolls were reversed you know for a fact that a Wii port to the 360/PS3 would be getting a ton of extra features. So it should be the same the other way around!
You know they have no excuse,I'm talking about Activision here. The online graphics were just as bad as the story, why do you defend it? The hand models were awful, I hate when people defend crappy games. Online, that is just a sad excuse for the crappy graphics they gave out. You know it is...
These will be better I'm sure. Stupid move though to release a year old game. Why wouldn't they just do MW2? Doesn't make any sense...
Lets hope it wont become a quick dirty cash in port.
Graphics were wonderful, and so were the controls. The controls were equal to any other Wii FPS, besides The Conduit. I don't know what idiots they hired to play the game fot gamespot, IGN, G4, and so on. All sucked. It should take you like 5 seconds to get used to, if not, you just suck. It's annoying how you guys keep saying the excuse "graphics don't matter, blah blah controls FTW"
IF the graphics can be Much better, why don't they make them like that?
Please everyone answer that, if you don't know why, it is because they are lazy and don't want to actually work.
Truth be told, I'm not really interested in this. I mean, I can't see it doing terribly well. Many people I know own some combination of consoles, so they've had CoD4 already and with CoD6 or whatever launching soon, they're not gonna pick up an old game either.
I mean, aside from being a better developer, they only focus on two consoles, whereas Treyarch focuses on what seems like every platform available, and that can't be good for quality. Add that to the fact that Trayarch was already subpar to begin with, and you end up with good, but not great, games. I mean, it'll be hard to fuck up what Infinity Ward did with MW, but it sucks that Activision just whores Treyarch like crazy without giving them a chance to redeem themselves with their own games.
Besides, you aren't showing a whole lot of respect to your consumer when you port a nearly two year-old game to their platform of choice. Honestly, I would be PISSED if I was getting something that other gamers have been enjoying for almost two fucking years already, AND they're getting the sequel when I'm getting part one. Then again, it IS Activision (Unfortunately).
Wii's are for grandparents, little kids and homos.
....until Monster Hunter Comes out.
Finally someone who is not sucking up to them! haha. I love Treyarch, COD 3 for the 360 is my favorite COD because you actually use a lot of teamwork all all...
Pretty much that. While I love Modern Warfare, I already played it, and there is too much good games coming out for the Wii, I won't spend my money on ports. Sorry Activision.
Get an avatar. I'm having trouble understanding you. All I'm seeing is "BREPBEDEPDEPDEP I HAVE A NEGATIVE OPINION OF WORLD @ WAR FOR WII BREPBEDEPBRAAAA"
Are you using Chrome?
Red Steel had a few things going for it. The art and "set" design was actually pretty competent. And, if you approached it as a corridor shooter, where you had to carefully line up your own corridors, it can be surprisingly playable. If you can tolerate doing that whole dumb thing...
As a straight up FPS, a Wii-Swordplay game and an intellegent Wii-Shooter control scheme effort, I'll agree though: Its a total dog! :)
Metroid Prime 3 is a super fine game.
I mean, forgive me, but having a lock on feature doesn't really do much for me. It's just a much more newbie friendly version of the auto-look console shooters have.
Of course, Metroid 3 was my least favorite Metroid Prime game. Still...
In the purist FPS sense, I can totally see what you're saying and agree: Lock on goes along way to mucking this up as a straight up FPS. But the brilliant part was the ability to move in 3D space and line up that lock-on in the first place.
Compared to the field of view/ turning controls on Red Steel, its an excellent advance and, at least for me, proved the concept of the wiimote+nunchuk control scheme.
Oh, also, did you guys know that Red Steel has better graphics than World at War?
Really? I hadn't heard that at all! If only someone with an avatar had made 8 comments about it... maybe then...
How are they going to make a rail-on Call of Duty?
