Call of Duty 4 getting GOTY edition photo

It was arguably one of the biggest releases of 2007, and now Activision has seen fit to release Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as a Game of the Year edition. Let's all accuse Activision of whoring it out!

Details are thin on the ground thus far, but we know that in addition to the obligatory pretty case, the GOTY edition will also come packed with a token that allows players to download the Variety Map Pack which is coming soon.

So far, only an Xbox 360 version has been confirmed, with no news on a PS3 or PC release. It'd be surprising if this stuck to one format, however. The CoD4 GOTY edition is scheduled for release in April.

I wonder if this game will end up being cheaper than $60. I got COD4 from Target for $37 back in December and once I finished all of the achievements I made an even trade for Mass Effect. I've seen COD4 new around $40 from a number of different stores since then too. If I could pick up the GOTY edition for around $40, I'd gladly pick it up.

I recently got my grubby lil' hands on a copy of this game. And I think it's simply amazing. In the Aftermath scene, I was slack jawed the entire time. I was never so engrossed in an FPS or video game period.

Lots of people have had that same type of experience, brecksher. It's an amazing game.

I don't understand the GOTY hate, though. Tons of games do this. And no one said you had to rebuy it, Crunshii. This is for the (crazy) people who haven't bought or played it yet. Calm down.

Good for Activision. I don't think many people expected CoD4 to be as big as it was in the wake of Halo 3. I applaud Infinity Ward for creating one of the greatest FPS experiences in recent memory AND a fun multiplayer experience.

So this means the new maps hit within the next month, right? Perhaps in the next couple of weeks? Please, Infinity Ward? I mean, I've got nothing to do tomorrow morning except recover from St. Patrick's day, so if you're listening, IW, I'd gladly take those new maps tomorrow.

...because, you know, those MS points get tired of being spent solely on Rock Band every few weeks.

Got myself the GOTY edition of Company of heroes today. It's the same as the normal edition, but it says 'game of the year edition' on it. Woo.

It's called breathing life into a stale product. Most gamers are already on board. Now, they are trying to get the people who held off in favor of sticking with Halo, or waited for another random reason. It's not whoring, its business.
