Rest easy, nerds -- Cable is joining the ranks of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Not Fusion. Earlier this morning, publisher Activision unleashed the above video and accompanying images showing off the yellow-eyed and downloadable X-Man. He looks to be the traditional kind of brutish character with a gun. He can pound the ground and emit devastating shockwaves as well as shoot dudes in a circle while hovering.

Take note of Cable’s traditional appearance. I was able to recognize him, unlike MUA 2’s Bishop, another future character who was apparently redesigned and stripped of his beautiful, flowing hair within the last fifteen years. Hair is a glorious thing, Marvel -- let’s not confuse me like that again.

So I assume these new characters will be part of a new Heroes/Villains pack?

Will he be God Tier like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2?

Also, Carnage in Capcom 3! I can hope!

I don't know, man. Cable? Carnage? Really? Just seems like kind of a blah DLC selection to me, and this is coming from a comic freak. Would much rather see The Punisher (returned to 616 in Civil War), Captain Marvel, Black Panther, or how about mothertruckin' Doctor Doom?

Actually that is his new look. His outfit at least. His yellow eye and bionic arm they can't change.

Still waiting for She Hulk. STILL.

That's kind of cool. I was surprised you couldn't actually use him in the game. I kind of doubt I'll actually pay for him (or any of the other character DLC) though.

I'm not sure who came first, Cable or the Terminator, but one is a blatant ripoff of the other.

There are leaked screens out there of the new characters. The other two are Black Panther (wielding that awesome sword he used the one time you fight alongside him in the story) and Magneto. So, you got one.

@mrplow8: Since when is the Terminator a grown up version of Cyclops' son with Madelyne Prior who was infected by the technovirus by Apocalypse and sent to the future to be cured?

Considering Cable never had a good design to start with, I can't say this new look is an improvement or a notch down. He's still just hideous to look at.

They're both cyborg guys from the future who fight with guns, and have to come back to the present to prevent their apocalyptic future from happening.

@Mrplow8: close. But no. Cable started human. The terminator imitates being human and is only working to stop the apocalypse because he's been reprogrammed.

@ mrplow8,

"and have to come back to the present"

This made me laugh.

"Hey guys.. let's go backwards in time!"

"How far back should we go?"

"All the way back... To the present!"

That's like me making a comic called Ninja Tortoises. They're four brothers who were mutated into tortoises and became ninjas, and now they fight crime. They aren't a ripoff of Ninja Turtles at all, because they started off as humans and they're tortoises instead of turtles.

Stop pointing out all the differences, because I'm already aware of them, and they don't cancel out the similarities. I don't need to know that "Cable was never played by the Governor of a state" or "Terminator doesn't have white hair", because that doesn't make a difference.

@runtheplacered
Cable isn't from the same time as the rest of the characters in the Marvel universe. He's from the future, so when he comes back he's coming to the present. It's the past to him, but to the audience(us) he's from the future and is traveling to the present. Same thing with the Terminator.

FYI, Brad: Bishop hasn't had hair since the late '90s/early '00s. He went bald a LONG time ago. I think it looks better, honestly.

@mrplow8: Cable is from the present time in Marvel continuity. He was infected with the technovirus by Apocalypse in X-Factor (vol 1) #68. The Askani offers to bring him to the future in order to save him from the virus. He grows up in the future and eventually returns to the current time as a grown-up. He is fighting against a possible future but isn't a cyborg. The mechanical limbs are actually techno-organic due to the virus spreading through his body before the Askani could cleanse his system.

How about... fuck Marvel and their obsession with destroying the look of characters with classic designs? Seriously, would fans have stood for the whole street fighter cast to have new stupid outfits that looked part of a 5 minute brainstorm session? I have to hand it to DC finally, they actually evolve the look of their characters in a logical way.
