     DO WANT

Sometime, I just wander about the internet and look at things that are wildly out of my price range that I desperately want to buy. I've given up on all hope of a Realdoll, but tonight, I found myself falling into a self induced haze of tequila and lust over the Excalibur, a sexy stand up cabinet that I played at Video Games Live.

Made by Dream Authentics, this sucker can play any PC based video games from arcade must haves to newer titles. Under the hood lies a custom computer platform, a 27" arcade monitor and an arcade audio system (subwoofer included). Yes, having an original Joust or Gauntlet cabinet in your house is the stuff that faps are made of, but the minute you say customize, I lose my little bean of a brain and fumble out my credit card.

As the logic of my current finances dissolved away like so much sand through my fingertips, I surfed to the site and found out that financing is now available for me to install this pagoda of glory in the kitchen. No interest or payments for a year? It's so....painless. I can save 3500 bones by then. I know I can, I know I can, I know I can....

Holy Christ, $3,500 for a fucking MAME cabinet? You can buy kits for about a tenth of that, and they're not that hard to build.

Yea, I've seen a few sites of people making custom mame cabinets for around 500 bucks. That 3500 would be better used elsewhere, I hear they're developing plus size realdolls.

I've always wanted to buy a cabinet for one of those games you can't simulate on a PC, like Police 911 or Tsurugi. Not that those games are particularly good, but at least you'd be getting a uniquely arcade experience in your own home.

How the fuck did Police 911 work, anyhow?

At least you're getting a spinner and trackball too. One of these days I'm finally going to build a mame cabinet.

Every person's house should have a couple of these.

I've seen cabinets similar to this for much less. That price is insane.

I just got a gutted cabinet from a guy that rebuilds with enough room for a 27" tv/monitor and space for a pc for $20. Slap on some paint, screw in a shelf, print out a marquee. That's how ya do it!

i found a cab in the trash and gave it the mame treatment for under $300. save your money for the tissues and vaseline you'll go through when you realize just how good capcom bowling is with a real trackball :)

It looks like ass until you realize you can have it customized and pimped out to look however you want it too. Also, every MAME game known to man kind on there? Sure you could just download them on your computer but is that really as much fun as a stand up cabinet in your living room!?

I'm not going to waste my money on a $3500 cabinet, but because of this post I really want to build my own now!

Jebus, I don't care if the "custom" cabinet dispenses cold beer and BJs, 3500 is too much, for ANY cab.

You can buy a like new Neo Geo cab, standard 29" monitor, AND games + hardware....for under 400 bucks. Seriously. Arcade cabinets are not expensive.

You can get just an empty cab for under a hundred bucks. However, you will have to "customize" yourself (ie, clean, paint, general restoration, etc). Then you throw in a computer of your liking.

However, the fun of having a cabinet isn't running lame ass emulators, it's buying actual arcade hardware. There's limitless options with a standard JAMMA arcade cabinet.

3500 for a "custom" cab though.....that's just wrong.
