Buy your copy of Resident Evil 5 in PA, meet some zombies photo

Well, this is creative. For the release of Resident Evil 5 this March 13th, a Best Buy in Stroudsberg, PA will transform part of their store into a haunted house, complete with shambling zombies, TVs mysteriously silent with snow and a guy wearing a potato sack mask and wielding a chainsaw. Stopping in on the way home from work to buy an AV cable may become the most unintentionally terrifying moment of some guy's life.

Dave Partenio, supervisor of gaming and media at the store, commented on the event, saying that midnight releases were old and stale. The corporate side is keeping a close eye on the event, and its predicted that if it does well there will be more events like it in future.

It all starts at midnight on March 13th. If you live in the area, you ought to stop by: pictures of all this nutty activity could really be something.

I wish stuff like this would happen more often.

"attend the blood red carpet midnight release..."

Best Buy fails at marketing.

Hmmm...that's up where my in-laws have a house. Maybe I'll spend the night there so I can hit up the store.

That's fitting. Pennsylvania is the home of xombiw movies. The original Night of the Living Dead was filmed there. George Romero has tried to make every movie that he's ever made shot in PA.

I live in Whitehall, PA. I could conceivably go to this. I already know of a former coworker/current friend who is planning on attending. I wasn't planning on going myself, as games traditionaly launch on tuesdays/wednesdays, and I have work to worry about . . . but March 13th is a Friday . . .

STROUDSBURG?! You've got to be kidding? I can't believe something this creative is coming out of Stroudsburg. Then again, this is probably in conjunction with the students at East Stroudsburg University...

Then again, I'm from Scranton, so what do I know. (Stuff the Office jokes... :P )

@Toxin: Oh, come on. According to Mapquest, Hartford is less than 4 hours Stroudsburg. Just hop on I-84 and make a day or two of it. ;)

I will be there, HD cam in hand...probably will get an early peek at the store too. I have a wireless aircard, but not sure how quick uploaded shots will go, especially video. This should be horrific, and not in a good way.

They better be careful if they do it at a store near me. When I'm frightened I black out and have what they call a "kleptomania seizure."

blindsidedork is right

I guess in order to progress the series forward they had to stretch the term "Zombie" Now it is Africans who have a bad case of the pink eye and walk with obstacles held high above there head. Oh and use megaphones

Well.. That's kind of interesting.. Too bad most of the Night of the Living Dead films were made near Pittsburgh.. Not in the middle of the state (I'm only referring to the original film at the moment) That does sound like a fun event.. Why am I so concerned about accuracy? Oh well.

I'd attend, but that us kinda far from here but that's a Friday. If it was the day after (Saturday the 14th, real spooky), I'd go and take pics.
