Buy the new Splatterhouse game right NOW ... for $675 photo

We've seen hide nor hair of Namco Bandai's Splatterhouse remake lately, but nothing can hide from the Internet for long, and copies of the game are going on sale at this very moment. The only downside is that you're not supposed to own it at all. Oh, and it costs $675.

Yes, you read that correctly. A man from Michigan thinks that his early (and possibly illegal) games are so valuable that people are willing to part with almost $700 to get their hands on one. The game is part of a package of pre-release material that user "Dulledblade" is offering on ASSEMbler

"Unreleased Completed Beta of Splatterhouse," advertises Dulledblade. "The game can be played like normal or with debug options that can be accessed via the select button. The intro video was comprised of the rough animations, but better than a story board. There is also a couple physics test rooms and other special tests that can be performed."

We don't know how complete the beta is, and whether it's based on the Bottlerocket code or code developed after the project was given to Namco Bandai's in-house team. It's for the Xbox 360, in any case, so if you have a developer kit and more money than brains, go get your Splatterhouse on. We don't recommend it, though.

Pirated Copies of 'Splatterhouse' (ALL) Hit the Net — for $675 [Worthplaying]

This may be almost as ridiculous as someone trying to sell a new copy of 50 Cent Blood on the Sand on amazon for $80.

I bought 12. 1 to play, the other 11 to use as fancy coasters.

What can I say, I'm filthy, filthy, filthy rich.

i could see that much for thrillkill, because the game never made it to retail but for a beta of a game that's coming out very soon, no. once the game is released that beta ain't worth a shit.

I had a neighbor who would scour the assembler forums for beta and alpha versions of games, sometimes paying as high as $200 for versions. His prize possessions were, I believe, RE 1.5 (the original version of RE2) and every incarnation of RE4 before it became about Las Plagas.

I could see this as something he'd want, but I bet he's already seen this post since those forums are his home.

And you thought paying for Chocobo's was stupid.

Not if this guy has anything to say about it.

700 bucks for the actual game would be bad enough, but for a beta?

I think the most prized possession I had was an alpha build of Unreal. That's Unreal the first folks. It was funny because now when I look back at it there were new unheard of features like geometry that affected lighting.

Actually it's you guys who are the idiots.... I wouldn't spend all that money but plenty of people pay a lot of money for unreleased betas. Though it depends which splatterhouse it is, if it's the one that is still being developed then no it'll fetch crap, but if it is the one that was canned he could indeed get $700 for it.

Oh come on, the seller's thinking smart--he's just getting himself set up for his bail money when NamBan has him arrested.

I'd trade him a copy of Kane and Lynch, used from gamestop with the sticker on it.

If you are a collector or someone who is into history then it is worth it. Not only that but the person who buys it can release this piece of history to the public which is good for all of us.

Yeah, I'll be sure to open up that debug menu by pressing SELECT on my XBOX 360 controller.
