BUTTSECKS: There are pedophiles in our videogames! photo

A Cincinnati NBC news station has a news story up proclaiming that videogame systems are a gateway for sexual predators. There have been some cases in Ohio where some sick bastards have used Xbox LIVE to target children. One such case involved a 30-year-old woman sending nude pictures of herself to a 16-year-old boy who sent nude pictures of himself in return.

Most interesting of all of this is what one investigator had to say:

The shift from computers to video games doesn’t surprise investigators, but many parents remain unaware of the risk.

You know who's to blame for this shift?! Chris Hansen. Thanks to Catch A Predator, these jackasses are finally catching on and moving to different online mediums.

The news story at least makes it clear that parents need to get involved with their children so they don't do anything stupid.

They do get one thing horribly wrong in the story though. They claimed that the Wii is also a gateway for the predators. The Wii online system is so broke that it's useless to predators. The one and only good thing about Friends Codes. Which, by the way, this is pretty much why the whole Wii Online system is so crippled.

"One such case involved a 30-year-old woman sending nude pictures of herself to a 16-year-old boy who sent nude pictures of himself in return."
The boy is guilty of trafficking in child pornography. Her sending pictures to him is also technically a crime (most likely just propositioning a minor, though), but his are worse.
It's always the teenage boys that get screwed over in these matters.

Makes me wish I was still 16 so I could be sexually victimized by milfs over xbox live.

It's not victimization if they like it. And Pamela Rogers could have molested my balls off and I would never tell anyone. That's not something you throw away.

Still predatory. Kids don't *know* what they like, and it's taken advantage of.

Also, Perverted Justice needs to start hitting up XBL, I think.

I'm in ohio and I'd like to know where she is.

All-in-all, I agree, the kid clearly engauged in it by offering pictures back.

The 16-year-old told on her? What a douche. I was trying to score with 30-year-olds when I was his age. If I saw this kid I would kick him in the teethe. Unless the chick was ugly then I understand.

I guess friend codes may have a plus side after all. They Prevent 30 year old women from sending pictures of themselves.

Man, Nintendo just hates online.

Are you guys not familiar with legalities involved? Regardless of whether or not you think it's okay, or whether the kid was okay with it, there is still "statutory rape" to contend with. And there are laws against soliciting sex from minors over the internet, even if they're above the local age of consent.

Good on NBC for pointing out first and foremost the parents need to be heads up. Allowing game systems to connect to the internet does give the potential for meeting creeps out in the world.
That said, that is going to happen anywhere you go it being gang raped at the mall (my mall two years ago) or hell even getting gay raped in the locker room at a middle school (some city outside of where I live). The internet makes the access easier.
I agree with the "no one knows what they want". You're 16 having sex with your hot teacher that every other guy in your class wanted to screw and she chose you. Then all of a sudden someone older than you tells you it's wrong and you don't know what to think. It all comes down to the laws like Jim said and yes, unfortunately consensual or not, statutory is wrong.

Still predatory. Kids don't *know* what they like, and it's taken advantage of.

On a personal note, I think I can safely say we youth are not quite so fragile as you think, Jim. Just very, very deeply disturbed.

It's either escapism or exploration, and either way we're the only ones responsible.

In about 2/3 of US states 16 is actually legal, as well as plenty of other counties. Still, nowhere in the US is it legal for naked pics to be distributed of under 18s.
I remember a news case a few months ago of two teens who took pictures of them fucking at her house and sent them from her computer to his, and somehow got caught at it. They were both tried and conviced for trafficking in child pornography simply by mailing pictures of themselves to themselves.
The guy also got a far worse sentence than she did in that case as well...

Whether the 30-year-old is a MILF or not — and she totally is, in this case — it’s still legally wrong (and Jim’s right; kids don’t know any better). I’m not saying that these people should be locked up for life, but really, are they that sexually frustrated that they have to start sending pictures of themselves to minors?

1st: I am seriously worried about Chris Hansen, did anyone watch the one where he went to caves and tents all over africa and the middle east to catch people sending those crazy deposit money email things. He's got balls.....He's got balls....

2nd: I am REALLY tired of all these 16, 17, 18 year guys getting upset about smoking hot older chicks doing them. You KNOW that he was high-fiving his buds about this two weeks ago.
