Burnout Paradise PC demo will let you play the full game for a 'limited period' photo

Continuing the trend of not completely screwing over its customers, Criterion Games is looking to give PC players a taste of the excellent Burnout Paradise, and a mighty fine taste at that.

The company will be releasing a demo in February which will allow us to "play through the start of the full game for a limited period," and includes the very same online multiplayer found in the retail version of Burnout Paradise.

After you have installed and played the trial, unlocking the full game will be as easy as entering in a product key from the in-game Burnout Store.

Not only does this model discourage pirating the game (no word on DRM yet), but it also gives potential customers an opportunity to make sure Burnout Paradise will run on their system at a satisfactory level.

Keep up the good work, guys!

im only interested since I can now run it in 3840 x 1200 and it looks a million times better than the wimpy console hardware.

Wow wat? This is coming out for PC? Never got to try this one, will have to see how it works out with the open world mofo. I liked BO3 and played a bit of Revenge, but eventually wanted to kill myself with the incessant loading and restarts for levels.

*sighs* so close to getting the Platinum Trophy...so close. Also, there's no reason why people shouldn't buy this game yet, unless they really don't like the open world concept and/or fun.

With the full game available on the Playstation Store they need to figure out a way to give us a similar demo. I feel like the full game might be worth picking up (especially with all the free DLC available) but I just can't make myself pull the trigger based on the demo and it never makes it to the top of my GameFly queue.

@ MrSadistic: About the same amount of time it would take the pirates to crack the retail disk based version. This isn't some huge gateway that will open the game to piracy. The activation still needs to be cracked and that's the part that takes time.

I'm honestly happy about this. I can check out the online functionality before a purchase to see if the Multiplayer is worth it / lag free.

Unless of course EA is going to limit installs. In which case fuck them. I won't be buying it ever.

First reaction: "Cool"
Second reaction: "Aw fuck, that's gotta be a stupid huge download. Yes, I'll download 10 GB for a limited time demo FUCK YEAH :suicide:"
Third reaction: "You can enter a CD key to unlock the demo into the full game. Cool."

ID Software did something similar back in the days of the original Quake. On my Quake CD it also had the full and demo versions of Hexen, Hexen II and Heretic (I think it had a few more too). All you do to do was buy a CD key and you could play. I remember getting on the phone via ID's 1-800 number and buying a CD key for Hexen using a credit card. Then unlocking the game.

Obviously with the size of PC games today this isn't possible. Wow that takes me back to 1995, ahh... those were the days.
