Burnout Paradise demo about to get better, to support eight players photo

For those of you who didn't bitch and moan with disappointment after playing the Burnout Paradise demo, here's some great news.

Criterion has revealed that from January 4 to January 14, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 demos will support eight players in an online session. This doubles the number of online players currently supported in the demo (that's four players, for those who don't have a calculator handy). Additionally, 13 new "Freeburn" challenges will become available. Three of the challenges will be available in 5-7 player games, and four new challenges in eight player sessions.

While I'm not sure these changes and additions will change the minds of anyone who cried about God-knows-what after playing the demo, I don't care. I'm still psyched about the game's January 22 release.

Hmm, there was something not quite right about the game when I played the demo a couple of weeks ago.

I've already got my pre-order in and for once, Aussies aren't getting completely stooged regarding release time. I'll be online kicking your ass on the 24th of January :)

I didn't like the demo...maybe I'll try the new challenges, if they actually include multiplayer racing this time... I mean technically you could race in the other but everyone had to find each other, I want us set up on a starting line.

dude. i've been playing the demo like a freaking fiend. 4 hours straight yesterday, about 6 accumulatively today, and now with the news of what tomorrow brings, even more hours.

i'm still undecided as to whether i should purchase the game or now... haha.

@ BuckF1tches - I managed to snag Heavenly Sword yesterday for $50 AUD, which is a fucking bargain down here (RRP $110). So that's my first purchase. BP is my first game to get on pre-order though haha.

Whose getting it on PS3/Xbox 360? I've played both demos and think I'll grab it on PS3 this time - first game that the Xbox 360 isn't getting preference.

Am I the only one who doesn't like, accelerating with the shoulder button? I prefer the old days of pushing buttans, not levers.

Apologies Magesx...I just figured I'd keep your comment format for the sake of consistency.

Sounds good, but I haven't even played the demo online yet. Jury's still out on Paradise to my mind; I guess I'll decide when I play the full game later this month.

Wow, that's pretty impressive for a demo.

Any idea on how many people the full game will support at once?

I'm more of a Mario Kart guy when it comes to race games, but free demos are FTW. I'll check it out, though I doubt I'll buy it.

I enjoyed the demo but I could see myself getting bored of this game after a week or two.

I thought it was pretty good to be honest, i just drove about crashing in to thing for a couple of hours!! I hope GTA4 looks as good, i only ever really use to drive about on that and shoot people as the missions were boring!

If only it were fun. I played it online but with the small area you get and the challenges available its hardly great. My complaints are the same as everyone elses, it just doesn't feel like burnout anymore, it feels like NFS with a sense of speed.

I didn't like this demo at all. I like some law and order in my racing titles (so I can find races, not cop chases). Aimlessly driving around a city and running into shit on my way to a race I didn't know how to find because everything was colored the exact same fucking thing was not entertaining to me at all. This will be the first Burnout title I don't buy.

i have no idea what everyone is freaking bitching about.

i'm a huge burnout fan, besides the first one, because that one was truly terrible, and to me burnout has always been about the fantastic crashes. This game has them in spades, and with the size of the demo's city-portion-whatever-ness... i can spend an hour and a half doing a single run of speeding down the street and hitting a ramp trying to get a double barrel roll, or getting the biggest flatspin.

people that say this isn't burnout obviously weren't in the know about what burnout is.

it was always about the crashes, and later iterations of the game just added aftertouch and the explosion shit just to flesh the crashes out more.

this game's iteration of the crash is to include friends online so you can go head on collision with them while yuo're both doing an insane trick.

it has everything that a burnout game should have. crashes.

Didnt get it, I much prefer doing races one at a time, free roaming is a good idea but it is clearly not as fun as it once was. Its neither burnout OR testdrive unlimited. Shame, I was looking fwd to this a lot, I thought the scenery was unimpressive too, the great crashes are not enough.

I HATE free roaming racing games... I want something where I can hope on, play a couple races, and then shut down after ten minutes. With this game, it might take you that long just to GET there. I remember trying the same course in Takedown for something like four hours, trying to shave that last second off to get a high score. Repeating one course that many times now would probably take three times as long, and be twice as frustrating. It sucks though, since it could easily have been fixed to appease both camps... When you finish (or fail) a course, pop up a retry option. For the main menu, add a quick start option that takes you directly to the race of your choice. I was really disappointed when I didn't see either of these features in the demo, and it pretty much killed ALL desire to buy the game.

I also really hated that it's like every other bland generic racing title out there now where traffic is something to be avoided. I loved crashing into cars to get that extra little boast to win the race. It sucked that the first time I tried that I was rewarded with a freaking slow-mo close up of my crash that I could no longer even skip past.

It was boring whenever it wasn't being Burnout. i.e, everything between the events.

"Bitching" is in my blog though,if you desperately need details.
