Burnout: Paradise Bike pack coming really soon photo

Yesterday, the developer of Burnout: Paradise, Criterion announced on their official blog that the long-awaited Bike pack DLC would be ready to download on September 18. The DLC will be free and, of course, motorcycles will be involved. The introduction of motorcycles is not the only thing the DLC will bring. Criterion has quite the list of new features and races to pick from:

  • Pick from 2 motorcycles featuring male or female characters and start on a whole new progression to earn your Bike License.
  • 38 new against-the-clock race events – Burning Ride and Midnight Ride.
  • A brand new in-game 24 hr day / night cycle that impacts traffic density and available events.  (It's fully customisable – you can make it day/night/change the clock speed – it's up to you.)
  • Dynamic weather brings an all-new look to Paradise City
  • And if that's not enough, we've got 70 more Freeburn Challenges too.

We got the opportunity to get our hands on the title update last month at EA Showcase and we came to the conclusion that it was “packed full of awesome” despite the inability to have catastrophic wrecks while driving the motorcycles. There is something about watching a motorcycle driver tumbling through the air after his machine makes contact with a low wall that is beautiful, almost serene. It’s a pity that such a scene won’t be incorporated.

Awesome stuff. Also, they have a Trophy patch coming soon as well. Criterion's support for this game is fantastic!

If Criterion can bring us this at no extra cost then why do we have to pay for the TF2 update by valve later this year.

Don't get me wrong adding more onto a game is fantastic and it will keep me playing but why can one company get away with giving it out for free but another charges if they said that they'd want to give it for free.

Fuck Bikes.

Give Me Planes Criterion, and you will have the best game on the fucking market for the next ten years.

Or until SSX 4 comes out.

@Daxelman

The idea of planes in Burnout causes my head to explode.

@Guagloves: That's how you know something is so fucking badass, the human mind can't comprehend it.

Criterion is made up of developers from the Mountains Of Madness. It's the only explanation.

BTW Daxelman, I assume you say "Get me planes" knowing that they are actually bringing planes to Paradise City right? They showed footage of it a few months back in a podcast.

@Justice: I didn't see the Footage, but I heard about it.

I don't know how they're going to do it, but I want them to do it.

SHIT BRICKS, I need a PS3 so I can play this online with friends, I've been flat broke ever since I quit Live.

Christmas better come fast, or better yet, I better have A+'s across the board come First Trimester.....

@Daxelman, yeah the footage looked great and I wondered how they'd implement it too (imagine plane takedowns!).

With this update, all the other stuff they put in the cagney update that was released a month or two ago, the island coming this fall and planes, it's pretty easy to see why Burnout Paradise is my favourite game for the 360.

@Justice: Mid Air Takedown, with the falling plane hitting a car that was instigating a Takedown on another car, which (if crashbrakers are still alive) blows up in an intersection, taking out more cars, and sending one car mid air to Takedown a low-lying plane.

Total Mayhem. Love It.

No crashes = What the fuck, Criterion? This is Burnout, not Gran Turismo. Let me see a biker get thrown into a bus that promptly eats his ragdoll alive.

@All the people complaining about no crashes...

I believe what happens is the biker will just vanish if a crash ensues. You still see the bike going every fucking what way.

This is how you support a game, and create a loyal following. Great job, guys!

The lack of biker going flying doesnt worry me. If i feel the need to kill someone over and over in such a way, GTA 4 is always ready and waiting. I dont think ill ever get tired of the epic crashes in that game...

Hopefully this is a sign the pc version is close too. This is my favourite racing series, i cant wait!
