Burnout 3 to receive the Xbox Originals treatment next week photo

Mark your calenders! Xbox Originals is going to get a heap of arcade-style racing madness with the release of Burnout 3: Takedown on January 14. As you've probably come to expect, you'll need 1200 Microsoft Points in your account before you can start destroying some driver-less cars.

Were we really expected to believe that these cars could navigate themselves? I like to think that they're really just robots in disguise, or are possibly even possessed by supernatural forces.

Whether you love Xbox Originals or hate it, you've got to admit that the idea behind it is good in theory. But so long as the games appearing on the service are backward compatible and can be found at cheaper prices elsewhere, I'm not completely sold ... yet.

You just never know what laziness and an insane craving for Crimson Skies can make a man do.

Bah, Microsoft has horrible timing on this one. I love Burnout 3: Takedown as much as the next guy (or girl), but isn't Burnout Paradise going to be a better game (albeit a more expensive one) in every sense of the phrase (besides Takedown's superior Crash Mode)? I mean why waste money on Takedown, when you can instead invest your $15 into a portion of Paradise?

I was just on XBLA wondering when they were gonna update the Originals... at least it's a decent title, right?

Also, Paradise LOOKS good but plays stupidly. Everything is the same damn color and I couldn't drive 10 seconds without crashing into something in the demo. Open world racing games are retarded. It'll be the first Burnout game I don't buy.

If this had achievements, I would download it.

In the mean time, I'll wait it out until Paradise takes over my life.

Well, it's nice to see that they're updating the originals. Although I'd like to see some harder to find titles on there. Stuff like Phantom Dust and Otogi. Stuff I never got a chance to play.

i couldn't find psychonauts at any nearby stores, and was happy as hell to download it off live.

i'd do the same for some huge games too like morrowind and deus ex.

It does seem strange to put this out so close to Burnout Paradise. Clearly they're not in the same league. But why distract people from a new game purchase when they should be pushing people to play the free demo. Hmmm. Maybe MSFT gets all the doh from the originals.

Umm, the cars in Burnout 3 all have drivers -- you can easily see them in the showroom.

letsee, go to the store and fork over $20+ for the 1600 MS point card and go home, enter card number on stupid keypad, go download game, wait forever cause live is damaged, boot up game,..

-or-

go to bargain bin of the same store and find fable, crimson skies, and halo all for under $20, go home, insert game on xbox and start playing.

I didn't like racing games before takedown.

Remember Tekken 3 on the PS2? How it was so slow it was more like chess? This is a fighting game that is sooo much quicker. And the fighters are travelling at 130mph????????

Does anyone know if this will work through a VGA cable into a 720p television in the UK? The reason I'm asking is none of the other XBOX originals are 60htz compatable in their PAL form and the VGA only displays 60htz.

Also, none of the others were widescreen.

Anyone? I don't want to be the guineepig.

I don't see why any one wouldnt go and buy the xbox disc of this.

I too have to also admit, i would of much rather seen burnout paradise with actual levels than just a huge world.

Oh well, I'll rent it first.

I don't understand why anyone would shell $15 for this with Burnout Paradise coming out and Burnout Revenge already available on the 360. Even if you don't want to pay $60 for BP, you can get Revenge pretty cheap...why get an original Xbox game for around the same price?

I really want it, but it's just so much cheaper to buy the actual game. If there were achievements, I WOULD pay the full 20 bucks they're charging.

I've heard that it will have online, and that it won't have online. Sorry for no real answer, but I'd guess that it will not -- I doubt the servers are still running for it.

Wonder if this is smart considering Paradise comes out this month.
Or possibly some sort of ploy to get you to buy, I mean - allow Microsoft to eat your first borns, again.
- sorry, was going to state the obvious but, it was obvious.

Anyhow, I shall get Paradise and I challenge anyone to a race!
