BurgerTime gets lobster milkshake'd with BurgerTime Deluxe photo

I love BurgerTime. The surreal world where the game exists has fascinated me for years. In case you don't know, BurgerTime is a game where you control a chef who has to trample across giant burger-parts in order to form (you guessed it) giant burgers, presumably to be eaten by giant people. These burger parts have been strategically placed on a giant scaffolding by forces unknown, though many theorize it was the giants that set them up as such. Why didn't these weird, hungry giants put a little chef to work on such a colossal task? No one knows, but it's something I've spent more than a few hours pondering.

Also worth thinking about are the giant, but not-as-giant-as-the-giant-burger-parts-giant hot dogs, eggs, and pickles that attack the chef as he tries to make his giant burgers. Why do they want to kill him? Are they trying to defend their friends, the inanimate, giant burger-parts, from being trampled on? Are the jealous that the giant burgers may get to be eaten, while they are forced to live on in an unnatural, unappetizing, constantly wiggling state? Or are they just TOTAL JERKS?

Rats, I've pretty much run out of space for this post already, and I haven't even mentioned the news yet. Fine, here's the news. Namco-Bandai is releasing a new version of BurgerTime called BurgerTime Deluxe on PC, and it looks like ass and has a terrible story that is completely unworthy of the series' rich heritage. The good news is, you can play a free demo of it here, and enter to win a pretty cool BurgerTime t-shirt here

Whew, glad that's over. Back to working on the script for a live-action BurgerTime movie starring Treat Williams. C'mon now, you know it'd be a winner.

Ah, one of my three favorite Intellivision games, along with Frogger (looks wrong to me with any other graphics) and Shark! Shark! (now, if I could just figure where it went...).

and it's $20 bucks? Street Fighter HD wasn't even that much, and a ton of work went into that one, not to mention it was an amazing game.

But... There already is a BurgerTime Deluxe on the Gameboy! Shouldn't this be BurgerTime Deluxe 2?

Also 20$ is WAAAAAAAAY too much for BurgerTime!

Aw poo on that. C'mon Namco-Bandai.

@Johnathan Holmes: Let me know when you finish the script. I've got a hot dog costume that's dying to be worn again.

The "level start" theme from BurgerTime is one of the things in gaming that will always make me smile. Everyone loves BurgerTime, even my stuffy math teacher back in high school.

Oh god it really is ugly.
When will developers other than capcom understand that less is more and 8-bit still looks great?
