If you think Bungie was doing anything new or innovative before Microsoft bought them you're delusional. The Marathon games were generic Doom clones with crappier graphics and boring weapons, and the Myth games, while great fun (unless you bought the Asian version and had your hard drive wiped clean), brought nothing new to the tactical strategy genre save some cool gibs-rolling-down-hills physics.

I love Bungie, and I think they make fun games and are unparalleled in their community support. But blaming Microsoft for their (Bungie's) blandness and inability to push the genre is ignorant.
