As you know, Bungie and Microsoft parted ways late last year. The Halo creators switched gears to become a third party developer, jumping out of Microsoft's pocket and into the open.
We have no doubt that Bungie is working on some new intellectual properties, but now it seems that they're hinting that they may not be an Xbox 360-only titles. If nothing else, at least alternative platforms seem to have been considered.
In an interview, PR and community director Brian Jarrard told GamesIndustry.biz that they were not restricted to Windows or the Xbox 360 with their upcoming new release.
"We haven't gotten that far yet, to be totally honest. In theory we do have every means to go out and find the right ecosystem, the right partners, to align with. We're very happy with Microsoft, the Xbox 360's been great to us and they're a world class publisher," he added. "So who knows what the future will bring us."
We don't know what Bungie is working on, but after being with Microsoft for so long, it seems natural to want to test the waters elsewhere.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
"We're moving on to bigger and better things no more Halo for us, seriously no more, we left microsoft to do other stuff, not halo, nothing of that sorts. Oh by the way here's Halo 3 Recon." Mmmhmm, that was totally believable
Until I see something flat out 100% confirmed for something other than the 360 I'm gonna bet that Bungie remains Microsoft's equivalent to Insomniac. They're technically independent, but they still ride the back of Sony (in the Bungie case, Microsoft)
The Halo 3: Recon expansion is being made by a small team. There's no reason to deny they aren't working on something that could come to the PS3 or the Wii.
Stubbs the Zombie, was developed by Wideload Games, published by Aspyr Media, and built on the Halo engine.
Just FYI-don't wanna tarnish Bungie's image and stuff.
