Man, marathon is really one of the most underappreciated shooters of all time. The story was head and shoulders above anything else at the time, and the action was just as good, if not better, than the likes of Doom. I can remember spending hours reading all the terminals and trying to really get to the bottom of the story, great game.

Nah, it was alright. However, I only played Marathon when I couldn't play Doom. My school at the time only had Macs so I didn't have much of a choice.

I really liked Marathon 1 and 2 (Infinity just confused the crap out of me). The story was great, I liked dual wielding double barrelled shotguns (the little spin like in Terminator 2 [I think] was funny to a young me)
I really liked the story, and it's nice to see that fans and maybe newcomers will be able to enjoy the game for free, even though it's been open source for ages (well done/thanks to APeacefulPanda for linking) it's still a new market, I guess.
Now I want to go back and play them again...

Hell yeah, have had Aleph1 for years. Love not having to have a Mac to play these games.

If it's also coming out for iPod Touch, then WOOHOO! Otherwise, meh. It's a pretty good game. Get me Quake 2 on my phone and I'll shut the hell up.
Nice to see Bungie respond differently than other pubs/devs recently over fan ports. This is the smart way to do it. Unlike Sega who had the Streets of Rage fan remake pulled from iOS. They put a lot of time, effort, and passion into that out of love for the franchise. What does Sega do? Instead of embracing it and understanding it can only help them they issue a cease and desist order. Of course Sega is not alone in this douche bag behavior. Bravo Bungie...bravo!
