Witness the new trailer for "Darkness," which will be part of that new Halo 3 map pack some of you have been waiting for. Bungie is banking on this WoW inspired sneak peek of the upcoming Legendary Maps (Avalanche, Ghost Town, and Blackout) to pry you away from those marathon (get it?) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare matches that have taken center stage in recent weeks.

As one might imagine, Bungie's not having any of that, and are looking to reclaim that lost turf. You'll have to wait until April 15th (pretty popular date as of late, isn't it?) to spend your 800 Microsoft Points on this one, but there's no reason why you can't still enjoy the now-free Heroic pack in the meantime. Yes, there are new kids in town vying for your attention, but Halo 3 online matches are still nothing to sneeze at - or have you forgotten already? Yes, you could always wait it out and get these for free somewhere down the line too, but that's no fun. When it comes to taking your game to the online arena, there's no time like the present.

Again so much waiting until it becomes free...

I still feel 800 points is a bit steep for 3 maps...

I feel like $60 is a bit steep for Halo 3

Halo has kinda fallen off my radar, considering it was all my friends and I played for a month or two. I definitely can't justify paying for these new maps, so I'll wait it out like I did with the other ones (which are actually pretty fun - Rat's Nest, in particular).

The CoD4 experience is fantastic, but I can't ever say that I've ever regretted buying a Halo game. Even if you don't enjoy the singleplayer (which I do enjoy), online is always a blast.

Can't say I like playing Halo 3 online with the playlists anymore but these maps will come in handy for the socials. I do love Sidewinder as well so a remake is win. Lockout is nice too

Hi not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. How are you? Trying to be Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare? Oh, it's hard. Well we all can't be Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Maybe you're a disappointment is all. Maybe you can kill yourself so you can be reincarnated into Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Or you will die and rot with Perfect Dark Zero.

Should I wait for them to be free or buy them day 1. I don't know yet. I don't think I play enough Halo to justify the purchase.

That's the thing about new map packs. After you buy them, you play the game. In the process, they become relevant to you ;-)

I still can't understand why people like Halo to begin with, so mediocre... But, then again, I'm not a huge fan of online competitive gaming. It too bad such a mediocre series gets a free ride just because of it's multiplayer.

I really want to play on Lockout (Blackout) again, and the new Sidewinder looks cool, but I really don't feel a burning need to pay for that content, since I don't play online enough.

No. I bought the last map pack and Foundry on its was worth it for me. And this map pack looks great since I'm a BTB addict and Avalanche is perfect for that.

I can not wait for sidewinder, it is gonna be great. I still dont know why they put the "love, bungie" touch in there. It made sense in the beta when it was kinda free. But every developer is putting out map packs, they aren't doing us that big of a favor.

I thoroughly enjoy Halo 3, but for 3 maps for 800 points is not justifiable at all. Even if you completely ignore the fact that 2 of the maps are remakes which most of us have played to death in Halo and Halo 2 (and we paid for the maps once already in those games too), 800 points would be absurd even for three new and original maps, given that the game itself only costs $60.

Keep in mind also that GTA IV comes out in a few weeks which will likely cut a wide swath of people away from Halo 3 and CoD4. It is conceivable that by the time most people get bored with GTA, the maps will be free or nearing the point were they will be free.

I waited last time and I don't regret it and I certainly won't regret doing it again.

I think I'll wait this time. I still enjoy playing halo3 but most people on my friends list would rather play CoD4.

These maps look to be worth spending the money on. Remakes of Halo 1 and 2's best maps, and a cool-looking new one? Yeah, I would pay for this. The first pack, not so much.

As opposed to events in two major cities to build hype and let people preview the maps, like IW did for CoD4?

It's called advertising, you dolt.

You're right, Halo will never be CoD4, its a much, MUCH better game.

Rotting with PDZ, HAHAHAHAHAHA, are you that fucking stupid? Or does your fanboyism to your shitty military shooter blind you so much? People STILL play Halo 1, 2 to this day and there's millions of people playing Halo 3 every single day because of how well balanced it is, something CoD killed when it made an P90 with an acog scope more accurate than a snipe and introduced that shitty perk system and unbalanced everything.

@fetus milk

Its called hype retard, its been done for years.

kyousuke nanbu, u said it perfectly. I was hesitant to try COD4, it was ok at first, but when u realize that perks and other weapons give players with higher ranks a HUGE advantage it really makes u hate the game. Perfect example, bullet for bullet, If I were to shoot someone in the chest with the first sniper rifle you get, and they hit me in the chest with the .50 cal b/c they are a higher level, who dies? ME. Thats BullS***. At least in halo you have the chance to get every weapon whenever you want to, and you dont get fag "perks" that are gayer than two men having sex

I don't have time to play anymore, but DAMN I want to play Lock Out. That was easily one of my favorite maps from any Halo game--the lines of site, weapon placement, and hold points were great.
