Bungie helps out gamer that got screwed over by Microsoft's repair center photo
     Halo

Last week, HawtyMcBloggy brought word of Nathaniel's one of a kind Xbox 360 that was adorned with signatures and artwork by industry people. The 360 unfortunately broke down so Nathaniel sent the system in making sure that Microsoft would take proper care of the system so the art and signatures stayed in tact. As we all know, that didn't happen and the 360 was sent back fixed but with all the art and signatures "cleaned" off.

Bungie got word of this and they have sent Nathaniel some of the greatest swag ever. The best of the swag Bungie sent to Nathaniel was easily the Legendary helmet signed by practically the entire Bungie staff and two signed Halo 3 soundtracks by Marty O’Donnel. Nathaniel also received:

  • Bungie Jacket
  • Bungie T-Shirt
  • Halo 3 Messenger Bag
  • Two Halo 3 Limited Edition Wireless Controllers (one covenant, one human)
  • Halo 3 Faceplate and Skins for Xbox 360
  • Four McFarlane Action Figures (MC, EVA Spartan, Brute Chieftan, Jackal Sniper)
  • Halo Actionclix Preview pack (Target exclusive sticker on the front)
  • Halo Actionclix Game Pack 4
  • Halo 3 Wall Graffix
  • Halo 3: Ghosts of Onyx Novel
  • Halo Graphic Novel
  • Halo 3 Wristband
  • Halo 3 Hackeysack

Check out HawtyMcBloggy for more pictures of the swag and a statement from Nathaniel thanking everyone for the help. Hawty also mentions that Microsoft is still trying to figure out what they can do to make it up to Nathaniel. I'm really glad to see some good come out of this whole situation.

This just goes to show how much love Bungie has for their community. Eh, Bungie, they're pretty cool guys ... except when they're trying to make fun of us. Also, Halo 3 Hackeysack! TOTALLY RADICAL!

Bungie did not need to do this for this guy. Not because they've broken away from Microsoft, but because they're not a part of Microsoft's shitty costumer service.

Bungie > Gamecock.

That signed chief helmet is pretty awesome.

Haha, Hamza. I actually knew he got the 360 back and just completely failed to realized that it was obvoiusly fixed. I was blinded by the sheer stupidity of the dude that washed it off.

I've been following this since Hawty originally made the post; It's good to see that something good came of this. I've always liked bungie for their fan service but this is just orgasmitacular. Good for him, and mega mega envy.

I still think they need to track down and fire whoever did that to his 360 though, thats just cruel.

This isn't new behavior for Bungie. They're some damn cool guys and have been so for a long time. And let's remember Bungie =/= Microsoft. This is all Bungie Studios' doing.

But seriously, I nearly shit a cat, when I saw that picture. I want, I want, I want.

Kudos to Bungie for doing this. Like Sharpless said, they've always seemed to be really community-loving people. I wonder if Microsoft is taking a 360 around to the various people who originally signed the guy's in order to replace it...

The guy was clearly a Halo fan, considering who he got signatures from and what he had drawn on the thing. This probably made him happy as fuck, and Bungie knew it would. Hence, Bungie are decent people.

Halo still sucks.

Um...that's nice and all...but wouldn't it have made more sense to...you know...get an artist to do a custom sketch on his 360?

With Bungie's resources...I'm sure they could have done better than throw a bunch of Halo merchandise at him.

IDK, just seems lazy to me.
Hawkeye's Avatar
Hawkeye at 03/07/2008 22:02
@ liqideos

What happens if the 360 he has breaks? Then he has the risk of losing the custom sketch again. Bungie thought ahead and were smart to sign something that wouldn't break down.
liqideos's Avatar
liqideos at 03/07/2008 22:40
...Well I think that it's a pretty grim outlook on the platform as a whole if we're still dealing with the scenario of the console dying as a: "Probably gonna happen again.", situation.

Or maybe Microsoft tech support should take heed to special requests attached to service tickets and things like this wouldn't happen.

The package is a nice gesture, not how I would have handled the situation, as none of the package is unique, save for the autographs on the helmet.

He still lost a piece of art that was unique to only him, and that is still the situation here.

Wow very very nice, allthough it probably still doesn't hold up against the loss of a handdrawn 360-skin signed by loads of 360-people...

@DrNutt:

He pissed only on his own. I've been gaming since the days of the Atari 2600 when most of you people were in diapers (if you were even born yet), and one thing that you gain after dealing with fu*kwads like liqideos and NightDehumidifier over the years is the ability to ignore their narcissistic pessimism.

I don't even like the Halo series, but I'd *love* to have that set of items. Kudos to Bungie, and middle fingers to liqideos and NightDehumidifier who can't at least show respect to a company who went WAY beyond what they could have done for a fellow gamer, which could have just as easily been nothing at all.
