I read it, and I'm more interested in the 2nd title that is scheduled since they are planning on releasing it on PC. However, that title is at the mercy of the 1st titles success. Let's hope Bungie can wow us with these upcoming games.
Quite a few things in that entire legal report bothered me. I think the most significant one has to be the "pay bonus" bullshit where it is entirely dependent on a metacritic rating. I understand that its been happening for quite a while, but goddamn that is just ridiculous.

It's too bad that this was announced in such a shitty way. I'm sure it'll be a neat game but another sci-fi shooter? Well, gotta play to your strengths, I suppose.
I was really hoping they would get to try their hands at something nonshooter. They have so much talent I would love to see them flex those muscles by innovating more genres. I'm sure whatever they make will be top notch and it better be with those crazy stipulations on a new IP
Smart of them to bet on Reach, it was a quality title. Fuck you if you disagree. I'd love for them to actually bring a Marathon sequel out and crush Halo under Microsoft with it. It would be so perfect.

With it alternating between a game and an expansion every year, I see it being more of an episodic game than a full title, unless they'll be like the CoD teams and pump them out every two years.

Reach was uninspired, boring, disappointing, run of the mill Halo. Fuck you if you disagree. I enjoyed the other Halo titles, but Reach...ugh. Sold it after I got all 50 achievements. I hope they have something good up their sleeves.

Interesting to see the details of one of these publishing deals. I've never seen anything like this detailed before anywhere. Strange that they would make this public.

@scrustle I don't see anything wrong with a quality bonus as long as there is a bonus for sales to go along with it because it encourages developers to make a good game it only really becomes an issue when a publisher shoves it out the door before it's ready.
That doesn't sound like the worst deal I've ever heard. And Bungie had to know what Activision wanted them for going in. FPSs, FPSs, and a couple more FPSs. Maybe a TPS to mix things up a bit.

I really wish Bobby Kotick would just choke to death on a bag of ducks. I meant to type dicks but I think ducks would be funnier. But seriously, I hate the fact that Activision got a hold of Bungie since I swore to never buy another Activision game again, which up until now has been pretty easy.

I am really more interested in what Respawn, former Infinity Ward and call of duty creators, is working on. Their next game have been coded the Halo Killer and it will have more momentum cause it will be multiplatform.
I was distraught when I heard Bungie wasn't developing Halo 4. I am thoroughly pessimistic about 343's ability to recreate the Halo experience, though with little reason. We'll just have to see. This on the other hand sounds cool.

Thats exactly how I feel.. It just seems like Activision wanted to scoop up Bungie in order to see if they still had some lightning left in that bottle. I don't know how it'll end, but I don't see how it can end good if -for some reasons- gamers don't latch onto this series like they did with Halo.

Activision doesn't have that kind of "emotional" investment for this series to be a winner.. I think if they are successful with the first title they should devote 100% of of their resources to a MYTH SEQUEL.
I honestly didn't want to see Bungie make another "sci-fantasy action shooter game" let alone four of them I wanted Bungie to make something entirely new. I guess Bungie wants wants to stick to what they've been doing the past 10 years.
