The current Sonic Universe arc has focused on the Chaotix and their quest to find their missing partners, Mighty and Ray. Marking the third chapter of the "All For One" tale, SU #48 kicks off immediately after Vector, Espio, and Ray's romp in the Robin Hood-esque Deerwood Forest. They then land themselves in hot water with the Sand Blasters, a Freedom Fighter faction with some rather extreme methods.
I jokingly poked fun at the character Thrash the Tasmanian Devil, who recently resurfaced in Sonic #244, but there are no jokes to be made about the Sand Blasters. They are literally copycats of the Looney Tunes. There's a coyote, a roadrunner, two other characters named "Tex" and "Avery," and a leader who... well... look at the cover above. Have you no shame, Archie!?
SU #48 goes on sale next Wednesday, January 23. Joining it is the fourth Sonic Universe graphic novel compilation, which covers the "Journey to the East" arc from #13-16. Check out pages from both in the gallery below.
