Brutal Legend rocks on Rocktober 13... yes, Rocktober photo

Double Fine and Electronic Arts has announced that Brütal Legend will hit the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 13 in the North America, and October 16 in Europe.

Whoever wrote the press release for the announcement was forward-thinking enough to refer to "October" as "Rocktober," because the game is, you know, kind of about rock music. Get it? Tim Schafer (or someone paid to make up something he said for public relations purposes) is thrilled.

"Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome," he's quote as saying. "And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?"

In this tough economy? Not very cool at all, I'd say, especially when I call it "Rocktober" anyhow. Today is Face-rape-ril 21, right?

Check out our full preview of Brütal Legend if you haven't already done so, and prepare to get rocked.

That's a bit sooner than I'd expected, but I'm not complaining.

I second that this is coming out earlier than I expected as well, but I'm also not complaining. Everything Tim Schafer related is usually awesome, so I will definitely be picking this up.

Jajajajaj, Here in Mexico, down in Capital City (Distrito Federal), a local radio station also call Rocktober to Octuber since two years ago. That's because since 2006 OCSESA, corporation responsible for bringing music events, release it's massive events in octuber. Last year brought Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots (and many others).

Perhaps finally the over-hype for this game can die down now that we know exactly when its coming.

Cross your fingers and hope this game turns out good in Octo-ROCKTOBER. Otherwise it's curtains for Double Fine.

Octoroktober geddit? Zelda style.

Silly me though, I thought the game would be more METAL and less ROCK.

I wish it was a little sooner but I'm glad it's not later. I hope to God that they are the big release of the week, I don't want them outshined by some crappy commercial FPS.

I think we need to rename all of the months with Metal influences. May is now... MAW

I wonder though, perhaps this is announced for Rocktober because Rocktober is a month that doesn't exist, so this game will never actually come out.
