Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

You guys remember when the ill-fated Resident Evil Game Boy Color port was announced, and the trailers and screenshots made us all crap our pants? I'm getting a similar pants-crappin' feeling watching this Brothers in Arms DS trailer, due out in August from Ubi Soft. Not every day that you see 3D games on Nintendo's handheld that rivals the PSP and, with enough liquor, might pass for an Xbox game. Just goes to show that all it takes is the right developer to really squeeze every last ounce of power out of some hardware.

I shudder to think what the Wii might be capable of in a few years. Sure, right now we're all making the same tired "lol PS2 portz" jokes, but who knows -- by 2010, we might be saying "wow, this looks as good as God of War 2". I know! Wouldn't that be wild? I keed, I keed -- s'just that with Summa gone, someone's got to find ways to slam the Wii in vaguely related posts, right?

Thats impressive, frame rate is suspect though.

Are we using the touch screen to control cursor movement as well as selecting weapons and what not? I didn't really like that in MP:H.

that's incredible seeing how the DS has no dedicated 3D processing.

Summa quit.

The DS is weirdly catching up to the Wii is graphics prowess. This comaprison of Spyro on the DS and on the Wii shows that.

3rd parties better stop half assing their Wii games.

I got this game and its great. Altho i'm finding it a bit easy, movement and shooting is good but the grenades are horrible think dragging upwards and a golf swing meter, I was very surprised by how cinematic this game is, the campaign is fun and the vehicle sections are a welcomed change of pace. My biggest problem with this game is lack of wifi play, there is only local! Brothers in Arms fans will be happy for sure.

Framerate looks pretty awful, but otherwise halfway decent looking for a DS game.

Wouldn't go so far as to compare to PSP or XBOX (drunk or not).

Agreed, it's a nice looking game. If you can find a gameplay video, the framerate doesn't look bad at all. There are some awkward camera and clipping issues, but it was pretty slick for a DS title. And voice acting, too!

Considering how warm my well-ventilated Wii gets in standby mode, I can only assume it's storing up graphics processing power in preparation to unleash some furious eye-candy. They'll tell us how at E3.

"Not every day that you see 3D games on Nintendo's handheld that rivals the PSP"

Clearly you haven't played much psp, but yes it looks amazing for the ds. Do you remember the video that came out recently showing the 3d capabilities of the GBA? it was like a really crappy ps1 game. Nintendo doesn't push graphics like they should. Damn you wii!

Simply incredible. This is the kind of game that might actually convince me to buy a DS Lite.

Wait, it's not even slightly incredible that the GBA can do PS1 graphics? And the DS, despite having worse graphics kicked the motherfucking tail off the PSP in sales and library (while the quality is debatable, the quantity is not). While this doesn't mean the PSP is a failure by any means, it does mean the PSP is most certainly second banana in this generation of handhelds. Now that it looks like devs are starting to stretch out the DS and it's two CPUs, the PSP is becoming less and less attractive. I think this is evidence of Nintedo's ability to make effecient hardware that careful coders can take advantage of, just as certain gamecube games rivaled the best graphics on the Xbox. I think the wii is going to surprise some haters.

Wow. Considering that is playing on a DS, that's amazing. It looks great!

Just goes to show that when a developer really, really wants to try to squeeze every ounce of processing power out of a console, it can have very nice returns.

I still say the best looking for the PSP is Tekken. This does look amazing coming from a DS..lets hope this marks a future of more eye pleasing games for the DS. Don't get me wrong I love the DS without it being a graphical powerhouse but a little eye candy here and there never hurt anyone.

Also, I happen to have a "friend"... with a ds rom cart, and i got to play this game (the euro version is on the internets stealin your nazis). It is infact friggen awesome. Not to mention the fact that theres real blood and tanks in the game, but theres real blood and TANKS in the game.

Real blood as apposed to the green blood in resident evil ds.

Sunami, wha? This isn't "o man the DS is going to bury the PSP lol", it's just impressive that the DS has a title that can compete visually with the PSP. The PSP will continue to have the on-the-whole prettier software -- this is the exception.

I already played it on my DS, and must admit, this is one of most ass kicking games on this platform. Although, in DS version u don't give orders, like on PC. Instead u r tanking all the time, and that's a lot of fun.

@ Brain - I think you're not quite correct in that assumption.

of 52 posts at the time of this writing

39 make no mention of the PSP:
8 are haters, like yourself, either just blasting the DS or saying how the PSP is OMGPONYZMEGAL3333t grafix.
4 are responses to the haters, by folks (including the author of the original post) just trying to say that the graphics really do rival the PSP from a fair and balanced standpoint.

And that last remaining reply, well, that was me, just stating how well the DS did in the sales and size of library catagories, relative to it's sony manufactured "competitor."

So since when does 5 of 52 posts constitute a "DS PWNS PSP" fest, especially when those five posts are fair and accurate?
