Valve call their L4D2 bot AI "revolutionary" and we all know how terrible that is.
Quake 3 did the same thing, but you could actually taunt them back with certain words. Was hilarious.
Yep! Oh the golden age of FPS games, before DLC took over, and the community made endless free mods for everyone...
Now devs just take that ability away and force feed you micro-transactions.
Can't wait to see the AI Gamertags! xXxFuqDaTuringTest420xXx
I think it says things about the modern state of gaming when Quake 3 is still going very strong, yet the modern offerings are forgotten after a year.
I was going to mention Modern Warfare there, but hey, what do you know, it RUNS on Quake 3. Heh.
Play the original Condemned on 360, it took a lot of elements from FEAR's AI and improved them all. I had enemies actively circle around cover as I did, use routes I didn't think existed to sneak up behind me and sometimes even wait for me to turn around before attacking just to startle the shit out of me.
As of now... I am betting money that Brink is gonna be kickass.
If I get Teabagged by a bot I'm trading this game in.
I want to see where this goes but I will hold my tongue on their AI until I start figthing AI campers and tk'rs.
... can't wait!
And that's exactly why I hate playing multiplayer with anyone but my friends who are sitting next to me.
Brink fights back. It launches its missiles against targets in Russia.
Bingo!
I would hope Team AI is weighted across easy to difficult. Easy would be they actually help. Difficult being they can TK you for camping and not helping them.
The solo campaign...wow. Wow for the AI. That is hands down some of the smartest I ever saw.
I actually had an AI guy go around an entire hill, took him about five minutes, to come up behind me...and even then he came in sneaky and crouched!
Since not a lot of people played it (it seems even less did the solo) just thought smart AI fans might want to check that out on a slow day. Not like it's a big investment, I saw the game in the sale bin at Blockbuster for the whopping price of $4.99.
Anyway, Brink even matches that game AI-wise, which you think more would given the game is like 3 or 4 years old, then they'll have me.
As the player, I'm trying to act like someone who would reasonably exist in the universe I'm playing in. So I'd like it if the AI would act human only in how it responds to the game world, not as a genuine person playing a game.
yeah and i can shoot pigs out of my ass
