Wait so let me get this straight, the producer of Resident Evil, the designer of... well Suda 51, the developer of Grasshopper combined with Q Entertainment... and published by EA???

Wonder why Capcom isn't publishing... maybe once we know anything about the game it'll be more telling.

fetusmilk:

Suda's is actually logical. It's a numerical representation of his name, Goichi Suda. In Japan, "go" means 5 and "ichi" is Japanese for 1. Hence, five and one -- Suda 51.

This could be huge for Suda51 and I need an awesome survival horror game that's not Siren! (sorry)

@ fetusmilk :

Not sure if this is what you mean, but Suda's first name is Goichi, 'go' is the number 5 and 'ichi' the number 1 in Japanese, thus the 51.

Honestly although I enjoy the bizarre spirit of Suda's games, as of No More Heroes I've cast some doubt on things he's involved in. Mikami's involvement, however, is reassuring and hopefully the quality of whatever they come up with will reflect that.

I suspect that if Mikami hadn't been involved with Killer 7 it may have turned out to be a disaster (even moreso than some already consider it). Or maybe Grasshopper's poor sales performance has stuck them with a shoddy development team.

Wedge, Mikami, if I am not mistaken, left Capcom after Clover Studios was disbanded. I believe he can do what ever projects he wants.

as long as they let those two do whatever the fuck they want, I'm all for it. It's about time their games get a serious push.

Wow...my opinion of EA and Activi-, I mean, ActiBlizzard has kinda completely switched in the past few months. EA is really stepping their shit up with new IPs and great partnerships, while ActiBlizzard is releasing dozens of Guitar Hero games a year. I still hope the Bond game will be good...

This could be a good or bad thing, depending on how the game turns out and if EA decides they want to swallow Grasshopper whole at the end of this process. Of course, I don't think the latter would happen, and that's a good thing.

Suda needs to stop making horror and start making awesome again. Not meaning to offend horror fans.

EA has really been impressing me lately as a publisher. As long as they stay out of the development (like with Valve), this should be a good deal for everyone. I will continue hating on Activizzard or whatever they hell they're called now.

Ditto what superflossy said. Grasshopper, Platinum, and Q? Dream team? Hopefully EA'll market the game properly so it can become a success. I'm assuming that's the reason they went to them, of all companies.

My ONE reservation is that I hope it's a self contained game, rather than the first in a series. If it becomes a series, chances are EA'll get someone else to make the sequel and fuck it up, unless they buy Grasshopper. And a Grasshopper purchase is unlikely.

I dig everything Q has come out with but I only hope they can wake Suda 51 out of his drug addled stupor so he can actually finish this game. No More Heroes might have actually been worthwhile if there was some effort put into it but it seemed like they put in just the amount of work needed to get it onto the shelves. The look and style was cool but the content reeked of lazy programmers phoning it in.
