Breaking: Sands of Destruction is an RPG photo

Gloomy dungeon? Check. Oddly dressed characters? Check. Bad catchphrases? Check. Extended combat animation, turn-based battle system, and weirdo monsters? Check -- check -- and triple check. Yeah, Sega’s upcoming Nintendo DS title Sands of Destruction is an RPG. Consider this confirmation.

The Sonic publisher recently released a second trailer for the game. You can view it below the fold, but don’t expect anything mind shattering: Sands of Destruction is as RPG-ey as an RPG can get. If you’re into this sort of thing, well, consider this great news. If you’re not down with this kind of Nintendo DS RPG, well, there’s always Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized. Huzzah!

Sands of Destruction hits store shelves in January.

I would be interested to see more footage of the gameplay since it looks like a standard JRPG affair but who knows, maybe it has something a little extra. Will probably end up not picking it up though, so many DS games to play...

Man, those catchphrases are bad, even by JRPG standards.

I just can't afford to spend so much time on JRPGs anymore. And this is a huge bummer. I really miss this generic feel, though. Only one I'll probably spend some time playing is the new Golden Sun. I've sunk too much time on the first two ones not to know where they'll go next.

AND WHERE IS MY BREATH OF FIRE??? I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT! Although, if it's going to be another Dragon Quarter, don't freaking bother.

I read the title of the article thinking it was a Prince of Persia game.

Video game technology is unbefuckinglievable, and yet we still can't master the art of voice acting? wut.

That positively reeked of bland.

@Springsteen -- I hear you. I've been waiting for Golden Sun 3 for years.

Forgive me but this game is old old old news.

The story is supposedly pretty good, but the rest of the game is generic as can be.

Well, this is a definite purchase for me. It looks incredibly fun...but I'm a fan of this sort of thing, so yeah.
