BREAKING NEWS: overly thin model seen wearing Pac-Man dress photo

You know, I appreciate the concept of the beloved icons of my favorite hobby merging into the fashion world -- if done well. This rarely happens, and while the results can be humorous (see Pac-Man head models), they're usually not something that any geek I know woul dbe caught dead wearing, fashion-conscious or not.

Anyway, Giles Deacon is the designer behind the dress,and while I couldn't find the cost listed anywhere, it's probably more than my car. What's up with the corpsey makeup, though, Giles? I'd think a Pac-Man theme would warrant bright faces and shiny lips rather than models looking scant and tired.

Why ARE there ribs on a Pac Man themed dress anyway? Perhaps they symbolize that the dying state of the arcade? They certainly aren't there for looks.

She's probably tired from playing so much pac-man...

I can understand the skinniness, too. When I was addicted to WoW, I would go days without eating and would spend food money on the monthly fee.

the model is jessica stam, and she's actually a great model, in my opinion. and believe me, not as emaciated as some others that i've seen. giles deacon is a london fashion designer who's known for being "witty" and skewering pop culture with his designs, but i think in this case it wasn't done with much thought. i don't mind him appropriating video game icons we hold near and dear to our hearts, but it's so copy and paste. the pac-man related elements of his collection were mere accessories that he probably thought would lend him some geek cred since there's been a recent trend of "geek is chic" mentality in general. blah.

Interesting to see gaming culture sneak its way on to the runway. Whats next? Portal jump suits?

Also, take off the make up, get her in some normal clothes, and I would hit. Yes, like an angry fist of God.
