BREAKING NEWS! Disaster: Day of Crisis has no release date!!! photo

Quick, somebody get me CNN on the phone, because I have a red hot tip that will shake the entire foundations of America as we know it. Disaster: Day of Crisis, an IP as old as time itself, has NO release date and won't hit store shelves in May, contrary to rumors!  SHOCK!

The game, which has been in development since the day Charles Darwin was born, is a survival title which charges players with the task of escaping a variety of natural disasters. The game was due for release in mid-2007, but very much like that other unreleased IP, Sadness, it seems that the game has been developed with pixie wishes and goblin tears.

Okay, to be fair, developer Monolith Soft has proven that it can make actual, existing games in the past, and Disaster is to be published by Nintendo, so it has a far greater air of legitimacy than Sadness ever did. Still, with Nintendo shooting down the May 30 release date and there still being no firm details after all this time, I wonder if this thing will make a 2008 release, or indeed, a release at all.

Only time will tell. It feels like it could be nothing less than a disaster in its own right at the moment, though.

Nintendo actually showed a screen shot or something a few months ago, to prove this game was still in existence.

So "no release date" could be taken to mean that it either it will never be released, or it's always being released. Each and every second is bringing us both closer to and further from the release of this game.

Disaster: Day of Crisis is a paradox!

My life is meaningless without this. I think I'll go shoot myself in the head or something.

I'm sorry I can't help it

Why were people excited about this game again?

Disaster ,Project Hammer, Eight Days,Sadness

All the same. Console launches get people excited for games that will never see the light of day.

I love the Irem disaster games, so I was REALLY excited about this. I'm sure market research has shown a poor investment/return ratio on this, compared to everything else on the Wii though. =<.

Chances are, Nintendo isn't willing to reveal more about Disaster until at least E3 2008. Perhaps Disaster is planned for a Q3 or Q4 release. Besides, why talk more about a big new game that clearly won't be coming out in Q2 when Nintendo already has big games like Brawl, Mario Kart and Wii Fit to deal with for now. Anyway, Monolith Soft probably asked for more development time.

The concept of Sadness is cool and exciting. It's just unfortunate that Nibris continues to screw with everyone. You would think that a developer that is serious about making an innovative game like that would be quick to respond to rumors and claims that the developer and its games don't exist. Funny how Nibris has no physical evidence that the game exists despite having some pieces of concept art, in-game details and a song sample.

I also find it strange how Nibris was able to get a live action concept trailer for Sadness into Nintendo's E3 2006 Wii conference trailer but back in late 2007, Nintendo said that Nibris is not an official developer for the Wii despite the developer claiming to be one. Nibris also failed on multiple occassions to keep its promise to show off the game at certain game event shows and provide a new trailer.

OMG I love how anything related to Nintendo trickles out miniscule pieces of information over a period of 10 years. It gets me so psyched! I can hardly contain myself...nuaaaaaaaargh

TO tell the truth, I completely forgot about this game, and currently don't have much hope for Nintendo releasing it soon. Or at all for that matter.

It will probably wind up in that infamous nether-world we like to call "vaporware", if it's not considered to reside there already. Is there a statute of limitations on these things?

I expect Nintendo has seen the potential in Disaster, and with not many developers stepping up to the Wii plate, have perhaps indeed held it back to get it right. Nothing worng with time for more tweaks.

What's clear is that Wii needs new IP to drive it next to long established IP.

As for Sadness, who knows, but I really hope it does deliver in the end. It has potential and looks original.

Hey, if 3d Realms can push Duke Nukem onto consoles, after a 10 year stretch, anything is possible. Sadness still has a chance.

Nintendo's publishing it? I'm sorry Jim :( Europe won't be getting it for 2 years after the rest of the world... okay, maybe they'll give it to Australia, but the rest of the PAL region is Nintendo's bitch.

The sad thing is that the two Wii games that I was most looking forward to were Sadness and Disaster (great names) and neither hav shown any gameplay footage. Project H.A.M.M.E.R. even got as far as being playable by the public and look where that is now!!!

Where are all those good games that the Revolution had promissed SADNESS, Project H.A.M.M.E.R, Disaster: Day of Crisis. Those are all good games that were going to be released with the Nintendo Revolution.
THEN THEY SWITCHED REVOLUTION TO Wii
and all those games are forgotten by Nintendo. :(
THIS SUX!!!
