Are you spending long hours trapped in front of your computer mesmerized by the game that is World of Warcraft? Can you remember the last time you saw daylight? Is your picture on the back of milk cartons because your friends haven't seen you in months? Are you insisting people call you by true name, Gak'nar the Mighty?
Perhaps it's time for you to watch this inspirational video from Lingxor about one man's struggle to end his days of playing World of Warcraft. You could learn a lot from his story. Please enjoy and remember friends don't let friends play with Night Elves.

Also, dear god, 300 is fucking amazing, and so is its music....
I played WoW for nearly two years and started getting tired of all the assclowns that played the game. I uninstalled the game, broke my discs in half and tossed em in the trash. Now I go outside and have taken up archery. When it rains and I yearn to explore, I fire up Oblivion. I sleep better now, have lost weight, and finally feel happy. Quitting WoW is the best thing I have ever done for myself.
My summer of 2005 was spent mostly inside and I usually surf and do outside stuff, so I stopped immediately. In the next few weeks I boosted up my portfolio and got a killer job. End of story.
If you are serious, thats awesome man, good job. And to the guy that picked up running, props to you too. I never got into WoW because after a few months of everquest, I could never stomach a monthly fee for a game, but a long time ago I decided that I would work out an hour for every hour I gamed. Since then I lost 45 pounds and started doing adventure races. I ran my first marathon last year. I don't game quite as much as I used to but I feel a thousand times better and at age 32, I'm in the best shape of my life. The more I game, the better in shape I get. Sometimes late at night, I really miss those Totinos pizzas though. :(
LMAO - I play WoW but Im not addicted... why has this turned into a drug? Then when someone says "Yeah man, I quit my addiction to WoW" then others respond as if this guy just had a near death experience. "GREAT MAN! GOOD JOB!" are you so weak you get addicted to a video game? MAN UP. People hate the game as if its pure evil, its not the game that got you addicted its yourself. Breaking the disc and pretending the game doesn't exist isn't a cure, its a way not to deal with a problem.
actually dr. doom you're right about wow not being the problem, it's the person playing.
but breaking the discs, uninstalling it, and breaking all ties to the game is a way solve your problem as far as the wow aspect is concerned.
did the same thing with smoking and it worked just fine. I guess now you're going to tell me that quitting smoking cold turkey didn't solve my problem?
I was enjoying it until the end, where it started looking more like a viral commercial than a fan-made video, but the Monty Python reference made it all better.
I was never really addicted to WoW... I played for a couple of months, but got bored. Then, like the idiot I am, I bought the expansion pack because my friends were all into it. After a three day stay in the new and improved Azeroth, I remembered why I hate the game so much.
I quit played it again and then I have been wow free for quite some time now. My main complaint was that I let it take up too much of my gaming time to play other games.
Woohoo! I have never played WoW evvaar! That is the best way to avoid addiction. The only MMO I've ever played was Star Wars Galaxies and that turned me right off the genre...which is probably a good thing.
MMORPG's I think are highly overrated. I've played my share and all have the same damn thing happening. People level, raid, group, attack low levels for pitiful reasons, rinse and repeat. There is just nothing fun about MMORPG's I can find. That and there is just so many out there trying to copy WoW and shit so now it's just a cash crop.
I play it on weekends when im free or with some down time during the week, there will be those times when im on break(like now) that i play obsessively
Funny ass video. Its not that hard to quit. Just have a couple of kids. That way you cant afford to play nor will you have the time. Now I just have time to play a little xbox or wii now and then, but at least I get a kick ass tax refund. WOOT! /train /dance!
Good video, it's pretty much what happened to me. I was hooked for about 6 months until after the 12th Scholo run my whatever it was still didn't drop. So I vendored all my equipment, gave the gold to my guild, told Orgrimmar to STFU and GBTW, and canceled my account. That was one year, six months, and 28 days ago.
To truely cleanse yourself of the parasite that is WoW, you simply need to replace that addiction with something else that actually benefits society...like killing homeless people and feeding on their souls....
I played WoW for about 10 months, not very long but I had several lvl 60 friends that i power leveled with and began raiding after only a few weeks. This all happened towards the end of first semester last year, in which i had a 3.4 GPA.
Christmas break i got used to playing about 8 hours a day (for two weeks) and i was completely hooked. I think i went to class for a total of 2 weeks second semester. I really didn't think anything of it. I went home for the summer and continued my strict WoW schedule straight through it.
Finally, when I was about a week away from going back to school, my mother asked me about my report card. My school has this policy where paper reports are only sent out upon request, so you're to check your grades online. I did. My GPA was a 0.0, and surprisingly I was shocked. My mother immediately told me that she wouldn't be paying for my education anymore. I couldn't blame her. I immediately uninstalled the game (after a /played of over 90 days in 8 months) and gave the discs to my cousin the next day.
I don't know his whole story, but he did end up getting fired from his job (not a career or anything, but a job), getting kicked out of his apartment, and losing his GF of one year.
He gave the game back to me and told me he hated me (OK, i threw that in there for humour). I've been debating giving it to someone else and having it ruin a small part of their life, or trying to get back into it casually, if that's possible.
"actually dr. doom you're right about wow not being the problem, it's the person playing.

I dont think I've ever really been addicted to anything, so I wouldn't know for sure, just my opinion... I do think the game can be played with some moderation. It's like people keep going on about the game gets so boring- well yeah basically everything gets boring when you do it to much.
"YEAHH I GOT 4 LVL 70's 10 LVL 60's and like a billion other characters and yeah its fucking boring now."
Maybe if you didn't play it so religiously the experience could last longer...
Seriously.. WoW wouldn't be near as bad if it had graphics that looked like the opening FMVs. I tried playing, but I just couldn't stay interested in the cartoony look and such.
Oh I have. When I say cartoony I mean the whole style. WoW uses exaggerated armor (I mean look at the damn spaulders on the high level plate raid sets. They are FAR larger than they should be.) and highly vibrant colors. When I sit down to play a game that is designed to keep me on my ass as long as possible, like an MMO, I at least look for a game that looks pleasing to the eyes... like EQ2. There is no MMO on the market today that can look as good EQ2, except MABYE Vanguard (but Vanguard has its moments.). This old Ctrl+Alt+Del comic describes my viewpoint perfectly
Breaking my WoW addiction was easy as pie
i played 24/7 since launch up until the day Kingdom Hearts II dropped.
i never looked back
how'd you quitter quit?
I played WoW for nearly two years and started getting tired of all the assclowns that played the game. I uninstalled the game, broke my discs in half and tossed em in the trash. Are you spending long hours trapped in front of your computer memorizing by the game that is World of Warcraft?
mesmerized?
It wasn't hard for me to quit WoW. All I had to do try the 10 day trial. Three days into it I was bored of all the monotony.
My summer of 2005 was spent mostly inside and I usually surf and do outside stuff, so I stopped immediately. In the next few weeks I boosted up my portfolio and got a killer job. End of story.
getting banned is the easiest way to quit wow, even if you're in a strenuous raiding routine.
so rather than raiding 6 hours a night 5 nights a week, i've gone to playing other video games, and running* 2 hours a night.
i imagine that the mcdonalds across the street will go out of business now that i have time to cook again.
thank you ban-hammer!

Funny story, I've never even PLAYED WoW!
Thanks FromageX. My spellchecker hates me today.
someone should made this for FF11 4 years ago...
but great video! :D
meh
Wow!, I mean, Awesome video!
Although, you replaced game addiction to replace it for another... good for you!
THIS IS XBOX! (that part was great)
I used to be addicted to WoW...then I found Counter-Strike and never look back. I have so much money!
i just typed two paragraphs about FXII, but was afraid it'd change the topic.
so i typed that instead^

That is so awesome. I was never addicted to WOW, I was actually bored by it after 2 months. This video is awesome I loved the 300 theme.
actually dr. doom you're right about wow not being the problem, it's the person playing.

That Halo 3 bit at the end was amusing.
deiga, your avatar creeps the fuck out of me.
give vegeta his face back!
I was enjoying it until the end, where it started looking more like a viral commercial than a fan-made video, but the Monty Python reference made it all better.
i sent this in this morning but it didn't get put up as quick b/c i wasn't furious while writing it.

WoW is like pregnancy. Complete abstanince is the only way to guarantee your life won't be ruined. Except the chance isn't nearly as fun to take.
LOL i just watched this after a good 2 hour wow session... but Im not addicted, I have to force myself to play sometimes :P
And this video, its got too many references to count

This is exactly why I quit WoW :D

Every word of this story is true, I swear it!

just trash the curse... b4 it comes back
300 ftw
Wow is for those people that are just well, slow.
I thought it was a 360 commercial...but why Heavenly Sword and MSG4?
"actually dr. doom you're right about wow not being the problem, it's the person playing.

Aevalad so I guess you never played video games in the past few years...cause they are too cartoony, huh?
Oh I have. When I say cartoony I mean the whole style. WoW uses exaggerated armor (I mean look at the damn spaulders on the high level plate raid sets. My bad Aevalad
I thought you were refering to games that aren't "ub3r r34li5tic"
sorry but MMOs that go for a realistic "art style" are boring.
ragnarok online was visually more pleasing than vanguard.
eq2 is just as un-inspired as eq
Are people finally starting to realize MMOs(or as I like to call them "AIM with shitty 3-d graphics") suck? HOORAY!
