i played 24/7 since launch up until the day Kingdom Hearts II dropped.
i never looked back
how'd you quitter quit?
mesmerized?
so rather than raiding 6 hours a night 5 nights a week, i've gone to playing other video games, and running* 2 hours a night.
i imagine that the mcdonalds across the street will go out of business now that i have time to cook again.
thank you ban-hammer!
*read: walking/jogging/running
Although, you replaced game addiction to replace it for another... good for you!
THIS IS XBOX! (that part was great)
so i typed that instead^
If you are serious, thats awesome man, good job. And to the guy that picked up running, props to you too. I never got into WoW because after a few months of everquest, I could never stomach a monthly fee for a game, but a long time ago I decided that I would work out an hour for every hour I gamed. Since then I lost 45 pounds and started doing adventure races. I ran my first marathon last year. I don't game quite as much as I used to but I feel a thousand times better and at age 32, I'm in the best shape of my life. The more I game, the better in shape I get. Sometimes late at night, I really miss those Totinos pizzas though. :(
but breaking the discs, uninstalling it, and breaking all ties to the game is a way solve your problem as far as the wow aspect is concerned.
did the same thing with smoking and it worked just fine. I guess now you're going to tell me that quitting smoking cold turkey didn't solve my problem?
And this video, its got too many references to count
I played WoW for about 10 months, not very long but I had several lvl 60 friends that i power leveled with and began raiding after only a few weeks. This all happened towards the end of first semester last year, in which i had a 3.4 GPA.
Christmas break i got used to playing about 8 hours a day (for two weeks) and i was completely hooked. I think i went to class for a total of 2 weeks second semester. I really didn't think anything of it. I went home for the summer and continued my strict WoW schedule straight through it.
Finally, when I was about a week away from going back to school, my mother asked me about my report card. My school has this policy where paper reports are only sent out upon request, so you're to check your grades online. I did. My GPA was a 0.0, and surprisingly I was shocked. My mother immediately told me that she wouldn't be paying for my education anymore. I couldn't blame her. I immediately uninstalled the game (after a /played of over 90 days in 8 months) and gave the discs to my cousin the next day.
I don't know his whole story, but he did end up getting fired from his job (not a career or anything, but a job), getting kicked out of his apartment, and losing his GF of one year.
He gave the game back to me and told me he hated me (OK, i threw that in there for humour). I've been debating giving it to someone else and having it ruin a small part of their life, or trying to get back into it casually, if that's possible.
And that's my story!

I dont think I've ever really been addicted to anything, so I wouldn't know for sure, just my opinion... I do think the game can be played with some moderation. It's like people keep going on about the game gets so boring- well yeah basically everything gets boring when you do it to much.
"YEAHH I GOT 4 LVL 70's 10 LVL 60's and like a billion other characters and yeah its fucking boring now."
Maybe if you didn't play it so religiously the experience could last longer...
ragnarok online was visually more pleasing than vanguard.
eq2 is just as un-inspired as eq
Also, dear god, 300 is fucking amazing, and so is its music.
